Gmail / Google Apps contacts sync & Exchange not working
For all of my personal needs for Calendars, Email, and Contacts I use Gmail. My work just switched to using Google Apps for these functions. On my iPhone, I have both accounts set up using Microsoft Exchange. Everything works perfectly, including my personal contacts and the global adress list for work.
When I installed Moutain Lion and set-up iCloud, I clicked the link to use iCloud for contacts, though that meant that it wouldn't sync my contacts with Gmail, without thinking about it. I haven't found a way to undo this, and when I set-up a Gmail account I am not given the option to sync Contacts.
I've tried to set up both my personal and work accounts using the Exchange account set-up under "Mail, Contacts & Calendars" in Settings using the following:
Username: <username>@<domain>
Password: <<password>>
Server Address: m.google.com
When I hit continue, I'm given an error message that says "The exchange server "m.google.com" is not responding..." When I hit continue again, it seems to work, enabling me to sync Mail, Contacts, Calendars & Reminders, and Notes.
When I open Calendar, both accounts have an error message, and say that their respective <username>@<domain> is not a valid email address for the account, and prompt me to add another one. Nothing seems to make the calendars load.
Contacts doesn't show any error messages, but there are no contacts available for either account, and the global list for my work account is not accessable.
In Mail, both accounts have "Connection Failed" errors. Using the Connection Doctor only says that they can't connect to the exchange servers.
Any and all suggestions would be appreciated. I'd like to either get all my contacts somehow, or get exchange to work like it does on my phone.
