Mountain Lion UI Lag on rMBP !!! (Let's Make this thread serious and hope for a fix)

Update did nothing for when automatic graphics switching is enabled (ie intel HD graphics being used).. all this time waiting, all this time being told by Apple reps to wait out for the update, and nothing..

When Auto graphics switching turned off (ie only external graphics being used) experience is slightly better than it used to be on website scrolling and overall UI like switching between desktops..

After months and months of waiting to get this released it just shows that it is a hardware problem, if it was software related like several have mentioned here this would have been the fix. The graphics cards are just not up to par with the screen resolution and upscaling. A real shame.

I just applied update, unfortunetly it won't load after it, but in second time it was ok 🙂

1st impression everything become better (especially if i wil compare it with last summer, but so faaaaaaar from expected perfomance) 😟

Just installed it..., was so excited..., now I am hitting my head on the table because not only it did not fix anything, they managed to make things even worse (now the CPU performance is “fixed” as well)…

After SMC 1.0 update I was still able to get decent performance and corresponding "experience index" (Windows 7 x64 under Bootcamp,) and now even that is gone. Down from 7.9 for CPU and 7.1 for Graphics, I am now in 6.3 territory for CPU and 6.6 on the graphics side - thanks a lot Apple...!

A little history for all those who say Windows “Experience Index” is irrelevant, etc. - when I got this box last August, both the performance of this laptop and the corresponding experience index were through the roof – I think I hit 7.4 or something at the lowest end. Then, as with most of you, I applied 1.0, which brought GPU issues and my graphics index started flaking out (somewhat manageable with SMC resets) between 6.8 and 7.1.

Now, after SMC update 1.1 update, graphics “experience index” is 6.6, while CPU is 6.3 - this just blows!

P.s. I tried SMC and PRAM Reset (after the update) to no avail. At least on 1.0, SMC reset got me few days of performance before everything turned to sh*t. Now it ***** no matter what…

Waited months for this, and guess what, nothing is fixed, I have only the 650m enabled in my options and I have the same low frame rate on websites with compressed information , I'm definitely re contacting apple to see if they change this computer to a non retina model I'm sick of it , waiting and not having a proper answer

I would love to hear their response - please keep us updated.

i bought such device in NY, but now I'm living far away from USA, I have main Apple distributor here, and I have main Apple repair office, it is totally two different companies, who I have to contact to get back their device ? or exchange to non retina model ?

You know whats funny - I was reading the macrumors thread regarding the smc and software update and there were a bunch of people on that thread stating their units were running flawlessley both before and after the update.. So do they all have really low standards on what = flawless... or do we all have defective machines?

Yeah, did the same thing here. I'm now on 10.8.3. Still same issues. I actually don't know what to do now. If I go to a reseller and complain they won't understand me. Starting to see some burns in the screen after I've using it for several hours. Completely frustrated.

Everything that lags:

• Screen recording

• Calendar scrolling

• Web scrolling

• Mission control

• Basically ALL retina-apps

• When the desktop pops up after logging in

More problems:

• 1 minute shut down-time

• After asleep, the cursor lags

• Burns in the screen

I bet I can write down two A4-papers about everything that lags.

Well, can't wait until 4 years when I can afford a new one.

scratch that - I initailly noted that with the external graphics the performance was slightly better after the update - its not the case.. after a hour of use the same laggy choppy web and UI experience is readily rampant and frustrating.

What is the number of the build? I have the latest beta that is 12D78 and it seems I don't have updates to run here.

Today is the official release of OS X 10.8.3. It's no longer beta.

So I've installed 10.8.3 and ran the 1.1 SMC update on my rMBP. Two improvements: Battery life and increased frame rates on games (ie: Warcraft, League of Legend). Safari still lags and lego blocks, iPhoto thumbnail pinching still lags. It's been half a year and I've seen as much production on this $3000 laptop as my wife's $900 MacBook Air. I was declined to receive a replacement, so I'm posting my rMBP on Craigslist as we speak. After using Apple products for more than 25 years, this was the worst experience ever.

No idea. I didn't know they had build numbers on official releases.

I updated to 10.8.3 hours ago and so far it has been good, I'm using power point, iTunes, Reeder and other stuff. Yesterday, using the same programs was really bad, but today I only notice some loosing animation frames with reeder (swithching to the space that has it on full screen), which have always caused me much trouble before.

I'm on the dedicated graphic card, Power point force the system to switch to It, but so far so good
