Mountain Lion UI Lag on rMBP !!! (Let's Make this thread serious and hope for a fix)

Hey Wayne how are your shut doen times with the clean install retina. I had my retina and an early 2011 13inch on 10.8.2 sufffering from slow shutdowns. Both are now running 10.8.3 and only the retina has slow shutdowns now, the early 2011 13inch has almost instant shutdowns.

I just installed the new SMC 1.1, and 10.8.3,

I never had much problems with my 15" retina (2.3ghz, 8gb ram), there were indeed some glitches that appeared on the launchpad (back buffer appears after opening and closing a folder) and some laggyness in safari.

but other than that it was pretty good.

I did notice that SMC 1.1 fixes the launchpad problem (no back buffer stuck on my screen, rather I see a flash of back buffer that disappears in an instant if you really focus your eyes on it and sometimes it doesn't at all).

Safari experience is a bit better, less laggyness than it used to be, but still block jumps you if you scrolls really fast.

So far experience is better on my machine.

Also I don't have any gfx switcher, and never used one on my rMBP.

why would you want to shut down your machine!? My rMBP haven't been shut down in months now, just for this update actually....

@cbs20 I notice my restarts are still slow, but as Wizzra says, I seldom ever shut down my Macs. In fact it's better to let them sleep as they can now run maintenance scripts during sleep mode, and while we're on that topic, I noticed my rMBP running faster this morning. Can the daily maintenance scripts be responsible for that?

I shutdown to boot to Windows. Windows has its advantages over OS X in some aspects, plus absolutely no lag.

The reason why windows doesnt lag is because it doesn't do HiDPI resolutions.

Are there any people on this thread with the refreshed 2013 retina edition? If so, can you speak about the quality of the experience?

It is mind-boggling to think that Apple would refresh their flagship laptop with such a flaw in tact (unless it is possible to fix it via software tweaks).

Yeah i know the reason is the HiDPI I've voiced that in these forums multiple times.

Yup mine is a refresh, and if you read my posts the new update made my computer worse compared to 8.2

@Jimbobjoho, I did read your posts but did not realize you had a refresh. Considering that the refresh hardware doesn't fix the problem, doesn't it make you think that it will be a software resolution?

It does make me think that yeh , but I'm not even sure how much mine differs from the previous model to be honest. All I know is that Apple were kind enough (a part they got really right!!) to cancel my old order and give me the new one which has 2.7ghz cpu compared to the 2.6ghz i ordered before, and the price dropped a little - did the gpu change? I have, NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M 1024 MB....... and always have Automatic Graphics switched off.

Who ever said they're not going to do a recall I think you're spot on, but this machine definitely isnt right.

Anyone have a well educated guess as to when 10.9 might be coming out?!

So you're telling me you have the new 2013 2.7 ghz model and it's still problematic??

Yup... Scrolling is fine, just mission control, minimising and desktop switching (with apple+tab) animations aren't smooth and worse compared to 10.8.2 - at least on my machine.

Well, I've sent another set of screen captures and log files. The Advisor assured me I'll hear a response this time in about 3 days. We'll have yet to see that result.

@Wayne Chine, How did you get in touch with an advisor? Would you mind posting your screen captures so that people can see what you're talking about?
