Mountain Lion UI Lag on rMBP !!! (Let's Make this thread serious and hope for a fix)

I personally think the UI lagging bug is a serious issue on rMBP because this machine cost $2000 and up and it lags on UI features such as Mission Control and Space Switching while classic Macbook pros don't. I do understand that the retina display models carries a high resolution display, but I think the quad core CPU should have the ability to handle it (please correct me if I am wrong)

I am hoping and asking anyone experiencing the issue to follow up with this thread and post your concerns. Let's hope for a fix soon and we can really enjoy the beauty a Retina Macbook Pro brings to us.

I've got a new Macbook Pro Retina 15 inch late 2013 wit haswel and 2.3 Ghz Intel Core i7, 16GB RAM and a 512 SSD, NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M mit 2 GB . But Swiping between desktops and using mission controll lags!!! I've noticed that full screen apps lag less wenn switching but swiping between desktops with nothing open or just Finder open lag. I don't know why but when I switch to de Guest user it's smooth. But as my Admin user (main user) it's laggy! I've upgradet from a backup from OS X Mountain Lion on a 2009 Macbook Pro. My old Macbook Pro 15inch without Retina works fine and smooth ond OS X Mountain Lion.

Realy annoying for a almost 3000 Swiss Francs notebook.

I just checked again. The Guest User lags aswell. I also created a new user and same problem there. I just noticed last night when i connect my Macbook Por via HDMI to TV screen the lag is completely gone, but just as long as it's connected to the TV. Thats weird! I've also noticed when I do a disk check, while the check is running everything is smooth. But as soon as the check is finished it starts laging again.

Do some people have the same experience??

I see the same thing. I took back my 2012 MBP because of this, and I just bought the new 2013 MBP with the 2GB DDR5 graphics and its still LAGGY! Its in all browsers and the gestures of swiping from screen to screen. So annoying that I might have to take this one back as well.

The last thing I want to do is go another year hoping apple will make a Retina Display that can run basic graphic UI smoothly. Everything else on the MBP is superb. The choppy UI is annoying enough to keep me from using this as my main system.

I wish APPLE would comment on this and tell us if they care to fix or if they think its something us customers should just deal with. The sales guys at the stores act like they have never seen this, and once I show them they agree its a problem.

Please apple, I know battery efficiency is important, but a smooth interface is critical, especially when I am plugged into power most of the time.

As for now, I am forced to take another amazing system back. I sure hope they fix this.

Mavericks has done wonders concerning the lag. Switching between full screen apps and scrolling in Safari is wonderful. You just cannot use Chrome on a retina Macbook Pro. Google has yet to update it for HiDPI displays, so at this point our only option is Safari.

Paul, are you using Safari or Chrome? If you're using Chrome the fault is not with Apple, but with Google.

Safari is my browser of choice and it's lagging when I am using Safari on my MBPS 2013. 4 finger gestures and scrolling in Safari is noticeably laggy. It has gotten better since the 2013 refresh, but it is still noticeable and equally annoying.

If this is an apple rep replying please help us understand why you won't acknowledge there is a problem? When I show this to the store reps they recognize it and not sure what to tell me.

No I'm running Mavericks ond my new MBP Retina. All this lag is with my late 2013 MBP Retina with the 2GB graphic card. I find it strange that it work smoothly when it's connectet via HDMI to a TV or disk check is runnning. Meaning that the graphic card is well capable to handle the retina screen in specific situations (as mentioned). I can't explain why, either the OS is buggy and not handling the graphic cards correctly or there is a defect with the cards or motherbord. I also was at the apple store this week and checked their MBP Retina whitch are on display and they work smoothly. I showed my lag compared to their MBP to a staff but not a ginius and he had no clue what was wrong. Now I arranged an apointment with a genius to look at this problem. I will post the result next friday 15.Nov. And no i haven't tried SMC reset or PRAM. I will do this now.

So strange how apple continues to ignore that there is a lag issue with MBP retina. I have shown the Genius Bar guys and they acknowledge it is a problem after we compared to the flawless floor models. They also said there isn't much they can do about it until apple fixes it. This is going on 14 months and even with all of the web posts about this issue apple continues to pretend like they don't know what we are talking about.

Steve Jobs would have noticed, and me and thousands more out there notice. I wish we could just get a straight answer about this. We are high level Mac users, not grandma wanting to know how to change our background picture. Give it to us straight. We can take it. If you can't fix it, just tell us.

I would recommend to any out there that notice this issue to return the MBP. It's the only way Apple will take it seriously. If you had an answer to why or when it will be fixed I could wait. Telling me it's not a problem makes me believe you are not working on it. Or, us thousands of high level Mac users are just seeing things.

Btw - I am commuted to apple, and I hope apple can deliver. I wish Jobs were still here.
