Hello there,
I have an Laserprinter Samsung SCX-4100 and just updated Lion to Mountain Lion.
But now the printer is just not responding. In Lion there has been a problem with this printer, but I found a solution and it was working.
Need the printer to print out my exam and Mountain Lion just made my printer worthless now.
Have anyone a similar problem with it?

People who need to SCAN and/or PRINT without a compatible Mountain Lion driver from their manufacturer can use Apple's very basic "PRINT & SCAN" utility in System Preferences:

Just install the driver for SCX 4300 and it will work. Thats what I did and I am able to print. However this will not let you scan. If it lets you scan please let me know the trick to do it as well. Hope this helps.

i saw your R&D appreciate the same. I did all of the above, but the scanner icon does not come niether does it work... can you please help how to use the scanner of scx 4100 on this OS mountain lion...

I did get the scx 4200 in the printer list after donwloading from apple site and installed it to make the print funtion fine. but no success on using the scanner as yet...

I have finally found the solution to both print & scan. One needs to install the Samsung SCX-4500 scan driver from the samsung website and then follow the instrutions in this thread

Mountain Lion Samsung SCX-4200 MFU scanner driver

To get SCX-4100 working with 10.8.3 I did following:
I downloaded drivers from http://www.samsung.com/us/support/owners/product/SCX-4200
Picked file was: Print Driver (Driver) (ver.3.00)
Then I added printer and chose driver for SCX-4300 (although printer is SCX-4100).
And it's printing now. 🙂 For some reason 4200 did not work for me.
Ones again. To get SCX-4100 print and SCAN! on mountain lion:
1. Download SCX-4500 SCAN driver for MAC OS ver 1. From samsung official site.
then do the following steps:
2. Unzip the package
3. Open up MAC_TWAIN/SamsungSCX-4500Series.ds/Contents/Info.plist in your favorite text editor
4. Find the product key in the IOUSBDevice section (line 43
5. Change the value from 0x3426 to 0x3413
6. Do the same for MAC_TWAIN/SamsungSCX-4500Series.ds/Contents/Resources/Info.plist
7. Open up MAC_TWAIN/SamsungSCX-4500Series.ds/Contents/Resources/Defaults.plist
8. Find the PID key (line 16)
9. Change the value from 0x3426 to 0x3413
10. Install the driver as normal
11. Choose scx 4500 driver for the scx 4100 printer.
Worked fine for me! Now i have both tabs: print and scan.
*If you installed any other samsung drivers for SCX before - than first uninstall them.
