I have an older pro and airplay did not work but using AirParrot I can use it. However, recently I upgraded to iTunes 12 on Yosemite and discovered that airplay seems to be built in (to iTunes at least). I can stream both music and video (with sound) to my Apple TV. I still do not have full airplay (for videos on Safari for example).

If it is possible to do this now I do not see how the hardware argument stands up but suspect that Apple did not want to or did not have the time to integrate it for older machines when it first came out.

Are some of the other older machines equally capable now?

i found this new apple policies such a scam...

i am able to airplay with quicktime player but not for the rest...

i am getting more and more convinced that apple is become the new microsoft... overpricing their products... calling them old after two years... and limiting functionalities on older versions...

if any of the hardware limitations are true then why am i able to airplay with some of the apps without the need of extra software (i.e. airparrot) ?!?!?!?!?!?

this is just unacceptable....

i started using your products due to the fact that i could use a stable machine for photos and music and now i find my normal laptop more stable, reliable and with less crashes than apple products...

do not get me worng, i do own the latest macbook pro, but as a normal person i still have my old machines... like my air book (2001) and a few more after that... limit functionalities is just plain dishonesty from your end.....

shame, shame, shame....
