Mac Mail 6 is missing the "spinning wheel" indicator when checking for new mail

Before updating to Maountain Lion, when cheking for new mail in Mail, there was a little indicator ("spinning wheel") next to the Inbox to confirm it was actually working.

Since updating to Mountain Lion, the indicator isn't there. It's not that much of a big deal if it doesn't exist anymore, but it was good to have, and if it's just a setting I need to turn back on, then that would be cool, if I could find it 🙂

This is expected behavior. Apple removed the spinning indicator in Mountain Lion.

I cringe at the two unprofessional, totally annoying Level 7 posters and seriously question how they got their points and why they have to argue and nitpick all the time, since they have nothing to contribute beyond pointing us at the feedback page over and over again.

Our points were earned by posters awarding them to us for helping find a solution. I notice that you have achieved 255 points earned for being helpful or actually solving something so you know how the system works.

(look up disingenuous)

I hope that answers your question

Telling people that the spinning wheel is missing is only helpful if they haven't read the thread as that has been said dozens of times.

No one is telling them that...why would they?

People are coming here because they notice that it is missing when do an upgrade, that is the only reason people arrive at this thread. Why would anyone tell them what they already know.

When they get here, they discover:
1) this was intentional and there is no way to reenable it.
2) how to leave feedback via apple's official support channels.
3) the utility of this feature and syncronous as opposed to asyncronous account checking and why these features are absolutly crucial to certain users and so dearly missed.
4) the two current alternatives, and the ways in which they work and the ways in which they are incomplete.
5) that some commenters no matter how many points they have will be incredibly rude to anyone with a different opinion then them or anyone who questions the changes apple has made

The first 4 are helpful, the last is truly unfortunate.
Why are you even wasting your and everyone elses time in this thread?
