Power Nap not working correctly

Good Morning everyone!

Yesterday I installed a firmware update that brought the Power Nap feature to my Retina MacBook. Now when I plug the MBP into the external power supply it should make TimeMachine backups while sleeping. But that didn't happen.

The configuration is:

MacBook Pro Retina

OS X Mountain Lion (Power Nap firmware update installed)

External hard drive was plugged in all night long

Has anyone experienced that, too? Did I overlook anything?

Thanks for any help on this!

Power Nap will make ONE TM backup to catch any changes between the last time TM ran and the time it went to sleep. It works this way on the MBA.

You will see in your logs that Power Nap does indeed run every hour while sleeping, but it should make only one TM backup.

This is all done so that you can grab your computer and go without waking it in the morning. The next time you do wake it, even if out of WiFi range, it will have all the updates that occurred overnight.

Hi there

I have exactly the same problem!

SMS is installed, PRAM reset (info I got from AppleCare), but so far nothing helps: I keep finding new mail in my mailboxes after using PowerNap and my TimeMachine made a back-up, but all the system sounds from Mail are gone (send/receive,etc,.....) when I wake him up.

Same system: MBP Retina Mid 2012.

I just hope Apple brings out an update soon to fix this bug!

Kind regards

Sven

After 10.8.2 I now have different problems.

When on Powernap, the Retina MBP won't wake up. Instead it locks up on the login screen. Moving the mouse/trackpad crates a kind of block pattern as if erasing the screen. Similar to the way old Windows PCs used to do when you didn't have enough memory.

This only occurs with the USB hub. With no periferals, everything is OK.
