After doing quite a bit research I figured out that Photostrem is running in the background, and if you're one of the unlucky with low bandwith it uses most of it. So what helped me was to open Activity monitor or turn it of and it went back to normal. Probably should've thought of this a bit earlier, but nothing indicated that I was uploading old pictures in my iphoto-library.

I already started using Chrome on my 2011 MBA before the ML update, they already had the "use your tabs anywhere" option for Mac and iOS, using your Google ID. Especially after updating to ML... I don't use Safari anymore because of (the lack of) speed. Chrome seems to be a bit slower, but nothing compared to Safari. Alas... but bye bye Safari, I just updated my default browser to Chrome!

I am mentioning this in all of the slow Mountain Lion threads, I have a reproducible issue that may help:

How's about this for crazy, do you have an external monitor? Try unplugging it. Not sure the root behind this, but this is reproducible on laptops in our house. Literally, monitor plugged in, 1mbs, unplug, 24 mbs, plug in,1, unplug, 24.

Hope that is your problem, definitely ours. Not sure if it is caused by interference or power draw or what.

I had the same problem on a mid-2009 MBP.

Symptoms:

Safari 6 slowed down the whole system. Spinning beachball that would eventually clear after many minutes.

Firefox 14 had no problem on the same computer.

My solution:

Turn Safari extensions off.

Go Safari > Preferences > Extensions > Move slider to off.

There were no installed extensions shown, but after turning the extensions off Safari 6 is working again.

This is much less complicated than many of the other fixes listed but Safari working fine for now.

Good Luck!

Only (page_ search.yahoo.com is opening directly.

The Indonesia Internet is not that fast, switching all the time between WIFI and Telkomsel Flash.

Lion OSX (32bit) was working pretty well, now Mountain Lion (64bit) NO connection anymore?

I too am issues system wide, including Firefox, Chrome and downloading updates from the AppStore.

Try disabling iCloud in the Control Panel, this brought my speedtest.net results back in line with my work PC.

Not the best solution for me considering I am a heavy iCloud user, but it at least brought my system back to where it is usable...

Was having exact same issue i.e. page hlaf loading and taking maybe 45 seconds to fully load.

But it was solved by resetting my router (and that is by accessing the router on safari and clicking 'reset' not just switching it on and off at the mains).

Seems to me there are lots of different problems out there and this wont solve them all but it worked for me so give it a try.
