T-Mobile E-mail from iCloud

I have had a .mac account for 6 years. Never a problem receiving emails to my non-mac mobile device. Yesterday afternoon my T-Mobile G2 phone stopped receiving emails. I can get access the Internet and get email from my Gmail account from the G2 but no longer access my Mac account. If I go to my Apple devices I can access my email from my iCloud account.

I rebooted the G2 several times and spoke with tech support. We deleted the email account and tried to re-install. I continue to get the same error message that “Setup could not finish. Cannot connect to server. (Expected string, none found)”. Anyone else have a problem like this? Any suggestions for a fix?

JohnJT -

I'm with AT&T (Unlocked Galaxy Nexus) so logic would point to a google problem instead of an individual carrier, but what do I know.

My last email came in at 8:34 am CDT. I have been "Unable to Connect to server" all day. Too busy to go to the Sprint store right now.

Did either of you guys get your email to work? Mine has been mostly not working but about once a day it connects and picks up my email. Have you tried deleting the email account from your phone and then adding it back?

Good afternoon Deanna. Same for me. Mostly down but every once-in-awhile I get connected - without prompt - and get my emails. I think I may make a trip to the Apple Store next week to see if they can help.

I deleted and then added the account twice and still no joy. Please let me know if get any additional info. I will let everyone know if I get a answer from Apple.

I changed my incoming server to imap.mail.me.com

It appears to be working for me.

Rob, I changed my incoming to what you suggested and it appears to be working!! I hesitate to celebrate too much, but maybe you found the solution. My old setting was: mail.mac.com

I was out without my phone this afternoon and came back to see it was working again. If it goes down again I will try Rob's suggestion.
