iPod will not turn on without charger

My iPod died, so I connected it to the charger. I removed it when it said fully charged and it shut off when I did. Now it won't turn on unless it's connected to the charger. Even connected to the USB port in my computer, it will not turn on. The screen just flashes. I've tried doing a hard reset (Menu + center button) and that will not work either. I planned on trying to restore my iPod, but it's not even being recognized as being plugged in on my computer, let alone iTunes.

J3ssica, if your iPod battery has been in a discharged state for sometime, connect it to the PC USB2.0 port, for the firsst 30 minutes, the iPod Screen wont comes to life, then it should show this symbol.

User uploaded file Battery charging (lightning bolt)

then leave it charging for at least 2 hours, it will be fully charged after 4 hours.

If after 30 minutes of connecting to a PC, you dont see any life in the iPod screen, then bring it in to Apple Store or any 3rd Party iPod service centre. The will replace it for about US$60 or less.

Dont worry about overcharging, it has internal safety circuitry that protect the iPod classic.

Have a nice day1

It was working fine when I got it from my cousin when I was about six or so. I didn't have my laptop so i didn't have itunes at that time. i gave it t my other cousin to put more songs on it and when she gave it back to me she said that it wont work without plugging it in. It works when I plug it in to anywhere (pc, wall etc) but when I disconnect it, it goes off. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
