ML issues after standby/sleep

I upgraded to Mountain Lion yesterday and I've been having a big problem with my 2.53 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo MacBook Pro crashing in a very bizzare way, typically after being in standby/sleep mode.

It starts up from standby/sleep and programs that were open before standby/sleep are hung and can not be "Quit" - they just sit there hung up - force quit will not work either. If I try to start certain apps e.g. Activity Monitor it just bounces forever. The system can not be retarted or shutdown. The system is usless. The only way I can get my system back is to open term and issue a reboot command. I ran a fix on the permissions on the boot drive and also checked for any other errors.

Any recommendations as to how to get my system back?

Just to clarify my exact issue.

I have a unibody macbook from 2009. After updating to Mountain Lion I am experiencing wifi connectivity 'crashes' after waking from sleep. Wifi does not connect, and attempting to turn wifi on/off via the menu bar just gives me a spanning beachball. All network-connected apps are stopped or stop responding. System Preferences refuses to open as well.

Normally this would be a situation for force quit, but I know no way to force quit my wifi preferences. Restart is also blocked by Sytem Preferences running, even though it never opens.

Force shutdown by holding the power button is my only option. Very Frustrating.

Same issue here.

MacBook Pro (2008 or so).

After trying to wake (after hibernate) the system does not boot (it shows the progress bar but never shows screen).

Sometimes a strange 'blue screen' (stripes; oh no not like windows 😝)

Sometimes just no reponse.

It defenetly knows it crashed; it states so when starting up again (power button with a text) and on reboot you can report it:

panic(cpu 0 caller 0xffffff800da2220b): "Hibernate restore error e00002eb"@/SourceCache/xnu/xnu-2050.7.9/iokit/Kernel/IOHibernateIO.cpp:2892

Same issues here. On wake from sleep all open apps freeze. Wifi icon in toolbar in search mode. If I can get to Forcequit dialog box before the Finder freezes, then all apps are "red-not responding" but I can't even force quit them. Cursor goes to Spinning beachball and only remedy is Forced shutdown

I have an early 2010 MB Pro. I upgraded from Lion.

I tried turning off Bluetooth, no help.

Turned off auto graphics processor switching, no help.

Booted Into Safe Mode, no help.

Restarted as Guest user, no help.

Yep, Airraid - the solotions presented here did NOT work for me either. I tried everything you did as well. I tried the SMC reset - no luck.

As I said - and obviously no one read - is that I actually had Apple support on the phone and they couldn't solve it either.

SOLUTION (for me) - restored back to Lion and now my laptop works great!

Good Luck to all...
