Klaus1 and noondaywitch, I can from what I can see now also purchase it through Apple store Germany! This is certainly a good improvement by Apple compared to the tuff luck statement I received earlier. I think its good you spotted it because many new owners of iPhone 5 will need it. Its bad news for those trying to cell it for more than 100€ on Amazon but I do not feel sorry for this people.
I myself have already solved the problem for me and my family's four iPhone 5's having upgraded the OS on four computers (two MacBook pro's and two iMac's). (I thought I would spend my time on other things during Christmas holidays). This that the Snow Leopard OS is available is an improvement but it is still not OK that new Apple products are incompatible this quickly. This will till hurt Apple in future sales and also opens the market for companies that are selling softwares that replaces iTunes for connecting to the iPhone. Its simply bad business for Apple, still good that Snow Leopard can be purchased from Apple store is good news.
But I need Snow Leopard for another reason. I need it to be able to install Final Cut Pro II. Just need to install 2 files. Is there still no place to download it? I have it at home 8000 miles away and I am willing to pay another $20 but I need it tonight. I don't want to wait for a disk to arrive.

Nope. The first four replies to this Discussion remain accurate. The only update since then is that you can now order the DVD online.
What are the files ? : it may be that they're included in an update which you can download.

You don't tell us what your current operating system is. Only if you have an earlier version of Snow Leopard than 10.6.8 will a downloaded updater do you any good: that will bring you to the highest version of Snow Leopard. If you are on Leopard or earlier you can't apply the update, and you can only get Snow Leopard by going through the process already outlined to purchase the install disks.
You mention installing two files: you mean files which are part of FCP? They evidently need Snow Leopard and even if you start extracting files from the combo updater it's most unlikely you can get it to work: indeed you are more likely to bork the entire system.
Sorry about the incomplete information. Using Mavericks 10.9.1. I just wanted the install options ... Rosetta and Quick Time Player 7. They are evidently necessary for overcoming the lack of PowerPC support. I was successful doing this with Lion a couple of years ago. Turns out to be unnecessary because I found work around to fool the installer. Everything worked great after that.Thanks.
Your best bet would be to install Snow Leopard Server on Parallels so that you can then run it in emulation. You would have to purchase Snow Leopard Server from the Online Apple Store.
Rosetta wouldn't actually run on Mavericks in any case, although it's an on-demand download for 10.6.x, and there's a link somewhere that I can't find immediately.
Quicktime 7 does work : QuickTime Player 7 for Mac OS X v10.6.3 or later
