Where can I find Snow Leopard as an online download. Need it as I have previous OS, and cannot upgrade to Mountain Lion without first upgrading to Snow Leopard??
Snow Leopard has never been available for download. It was only ever available on a DVD.
You can order it from the Apple Store but only by telephone.
Or purchase it from Amazon or eBay.

There is not now, nor has there ever been an OS X 10.6 'Snow Leopard' download.
You can still purchase the CD set by calling 1-800-MY-APPLE (United States)
Be certain that your MacBook meets all the requirements for OS X 10.8 'Mountain Lion' before purchasing it.

You cannot download Snow Leopard; it was only ever available on DVD. Though it's long been gone from the onlin Apple Store it was possible to order it by phoning them - however I have a feeling that this has stopped. This being the case you can only try to find it from an independent Mac dealer or Ebay.
A warning - if buying from Ebay be careful. Some people are selling the grey install disks which originally came with a Mac - they are machine specific and won't work on any other model (and shouldn't be sold separately anyway). Make sure you get the full retail version.
Also, some people have been selling it as a download: this is illegal and also very unsafe as you don't know what you are getting. Avoid.
In the UK this is £14 from Apple or you can buy it for £70 through Amazon
Hi, I am in Malta and can't get it from anywhere! I tried checking the UK Apple store but did not find it...where did you get it from please?

You need to Telephone in order to Purchase a Snow Leopard Disc..
There's a Maltese no. in the list linked to by AnaMusic. Failing that, try Italy, then UK.
Be sure to ask for the Sales department - tech support won't have a clue.

I called the italian support centre. Snow Leopard DVD costs € 15.90 (including the delivery to Italy).
They couldn't process the order because of a technical issue from their part, so they should sort it out tomorrow.
Concerning the maltese support centre, I went personnally to the only Apple Store in Malta yesterday and they told me I have to take my computer there and they would install the upgrade themselves for € 53.00, without giving me a disc!!!!!!!
Since I have 2 computers which need to be upgraded, the final cost would be € 106.00 !!!!
And the cherry on the cake is that if you need to format or similar operations, you need to take the computer again and pay a second time!!!!!
Since I realized it's a rip off, I joined this forum to solve my problem 😉

@ madmax1962 - thank you, you've just saved me £56 as I was about to buy SL off Amazon for £70 but have just phoned Apple instead and got the software for £14 including delivery! I'm so glad I found this thread, it's made my day!
I just searched Snow leopard in google and found it On the Apple website but it cannot be found by searching😁

Whilst Apple have withdrawn Snow Leopard from download, you can still get it from Apple by calling 1-800-MY-APPLE (if you are in the USA) and they will supply the SL DVD for $30. You can also purchase the code to use to download Lion from the same number.

When you have installed it, run Software Update to download and install the latest updates for Snow Leopard.
