Email in Exchange inbox disappear in Mail

I found a fix. Uncheck the autodiscover in mail 6.2 in Mountain lion 10.8.2 for exchange accounts. This solved alot of the beachball spinning and lost inbox issues.

I've gone ahead and tried this... I'll let you know if I still get these problems 🙂

Ok, let me know if it works. Mine seems to work alot better without the incessant beach ball every time I open Mail.

I tried copying the external server address to the internal server address but it reset itself after I rebooted but no problems now with the autodiscover unchecked.

I have a June 2012, 13 inch macbook air, 2.0 ghz, 8 GB ram and 512 GB ssd.

Well it's not the end of my day yet, but I've yet to restart Mail 🙂 that is really good news... I'll keep an eye on it and let you know if anything happens...

Just to confirm: Same problem, same solution:

Emails in my Exchange Mail boxes were disappearing, two or three times a day. Restored by closing and reopening Mac Mail.

Solution: turn off "Autodiscover" in Mail Preferences. Worked perfectly since.

I use an iPad and have the same problem of mail disappearing. I'm using Exchange for mail. Does anyone have a solution for this!!

I am running 10.8.2 on new MBP Retina and am also experiencing this same issue.

Echoing this is still happening - 4th December... started early October.

I've experienced the same problem as discussed in this thread, though it only appears to happen upon waking up from sleep. I will try your advice and turn off the autodiscover service and let everyone know if it works.

This problem is maddening. It only happens on our iMac. The MBA works fine. Same OS, same settings, same everything.....autodiscover did not help. Quitting application and restarting results in zero mail in both InBox and Sent folders. Rebuilding only resurrects temporarily until next quit. Only recourse at the moment is to never quit Mail.....

Been having this issue for over a year now, no fix yet. Thank you Apple for forcing me to use Outlook!

Truede to report issue to Apple, but there's no place to deliver issues on MAIL in the feedback section. Has tried many of the suggestions here, but still struggles with empty mailboxes and messages that disappear. It would be nice if someone from Apple a least stepped forward and presented their analysis and possible (future) solutions.

Yesterday night I had to synch and rebuild my mail again again again.

I have never been so close to go back to using the Microsoft mail app!! As many others are mentioning here. In the meantime I will try to remove he auto discover feature and re-install mail.

I'm having this issue as well. Very frustrating. Have disable Autodiscover, but still only 3 emails in inbox are showing up (there should be many more).

of course your milage may vary, but in my scenerio, I need to check that the "autodiscover" is set to off every time I launch Mail from scratch. It's fine once it's running but when I close it and re-open it I need to double check otherwise I end up with blank emails :-/
