Mountain Lion disconnect from Ethernet in sleep mode

I have a late 2009 iMac running Mountain Lion. I use a program called LogMeIn to remotely access my iPhone from other computers and my iPhone. This app worked in Lion, since it was able to work even if my iMac was in sleep mode. However, in Mountain Lion, my iMac looses connection to both my Ethernet and Wi-Fi when it is in sleep mode, renedering LogMeIn useless. In order to use it, I had to sett sleep to never in the Energy Saver prefrences.

So basically, all networking stops on sleep, on both Ethernet and Wi-Fi. I did not encounter this problem in Lion, but ever since upgrading to Mountain Lion it's been happening. Does anyone have any suggestions to fix this? Is anyone else havin

I've checked Computer/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration

There is a file called "preferences.plist"

Into it I found:

Do you think we could solve the problem by changing some of the values?

It seems your posted data seem to appertain to some obsolete modemsoftare, Loïc.

May I ask what OSX you' re running? If running Lion or Mt Lion, you seem to have stumbled upon a piece of code which should not have been there in the first place, because since Lion, OS X modem has been abandoned it seems..

If still there under Lion or Mt Lion, it is therefore to be deemed somewhat unlicensed or erroneous by the devs...

I'll try to change the datas from 1 to 0 about the idle thing, that way I'll know...

In fact I don't know if the problem comes from OS X or Time Capsule. I noticed something very strange, when I try to access my iMac, and it does not respond, I try again and again during 2min or so, nothing, then I wait 15-20min sometimes a little more, then I try to access it again, and it works.

So there is about 20min during my first attempt and the last one to have it work correctly...

What the **** is going on during this time?

Since September 2012, I have had a problem with Mac Mail not connecting with the internet when the computer comes out of sleep mode. I have to wait a day or so before my mail works again. This is true for both gmail and Yahoo mail accounts. I am running system Snow Leopard 10.6.8. On a 2 x 2 2.6 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon Pro Mac. This behavior is also happening on my Power Mac purchased in 2002. Before September, I never had this issue, ever!

I don't have this problem with wifi on my latest generation iPad. Email always works just fine on it and so does the internet connection.

So the problem everyone is having with this behavior might be even deeper than Mountain Lion. Very frustraiting!

Thank you, Jeeprassic2

Your present post seems to be extremely important to this thread, and otherwise OSX! While everyone here were breaking their heads as to what might be wrong with Mt Lion, the issue seems to be more widespread.

This poses a new challenge: what major change has happened to OSX or relevant to OSX in september 2012?

This leaves us, simple users, to speculation. Could it be a final goodbye to MobileMe, the services of which have been terminated already April last, I believe? Something else? Anyone?

For the record: I myself am on Gmail, and have not noticed anything amiss, running 10.5.6 on a PB G4 1.67,

TenFourFox 8.0.

Loïc: what about this:

http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1138384&page=2, post#34:

After sharing everyone's frustration here at having VNC "broken" with Lion, I think I stumbled upon the fix. In your VNC app, you should have a setting for Wake On LAN. Enter the details (MAC Address, Netsubmask, usually 255.255.255.0, and your IP/hostname). Make sure you're router is set to accept WOL Port 7. This solved the problem! I can now connect through VNC--it sends a WOL packet first to wake the Mac into its dark wake mode. The screen turns on upon connection from the VNC client.
It would appear that Lion is insistent on a separate WOL packet.

Thanks a lot hexdiy,

In fact, I'm reinstalling OS X 10.8.2 clean on my iMac. I make a complete erase of the disc, and I'll install OS X like if I had an iMac just right out of the box.

I did it with the 10.8 release but the updates of 10.8.1 and 10.8.2 were installed on it. I remember I had the same problem with Lion once, and by making a very clean install of the latest OS it solved it.

I'll also reset my Time Capsule and AirPort Express from factory settings.
