Mountain Lion disconnect from Ethernet in sleep mode

I have a late 2009 iMac running Mountain Lion. I use a program called LogMeIn to remotely access my iPhone from other computers and my iPhone. This app worked in Lion, since it was able to work even if my iMac was in sleep mode. However, in Mountain Lion, my iMac looses connection to both my Ethernet and Wi-Fi when it is in sleep mode, renedering LogMeIn useless. In order to use it, I had to sett sleep to never in the Energy Saver prefrences.

So basically, all networking stops on sleep, on both Ethernet and Wi-Fi. I did not encounter this problem in Lion, but ever since upgrading to Mountain Lion it's been happening. Does anyone have any suggestions to fix this? Is anyone else havin

If you have not, I would go to your "Applications" folder>System Preferences>Energy Saver> and check the box "Wake for Network Access".

Hope this helps 🙂

I am shocked that Apple is unaware of this fact, There are tons of Apple Blogs and Computer Magazine Articles about this dilemna. Do a google search.

I certainly appreciate it that you made it to a person who will forward this, to someone, somewhere

lol,

You would think with all of the apps that Apple carries they would have one to alert themselves to issues via google and this support community in particular.

We must be getting closer to giving this information to someone who can get this under scrutiny within Apple and get it repaired.

I am still having issues no matter what I try, ESP. if I open other tabs in Safari that seems to speed up the deterioration of connectivity.

Well, Apple is aware of the problem when you call in, However it is not possible to get a solid confimation on how Apple progress with this problem, Apple does not respond to Bug Reports submitted on feedback website, niether will they patch you through to an Support Advisor, the closest I got to a statement was verbal in there call center.

For sure the problem was not fixed on 10.8.1 if this KB cover whats fixed?

Whether "The 10.8.2 update also includes general operating system fixes that improve the stability" cover this problem is hard to tell, I was unbale to find relase update for 10.8.2

Hello everyone!

I may be on to something. I have done all the suggestions above and other threads about lost network connection after sleep and have had some success with the smc reset and safe mode restart. However, after a few days the issue returns. I have just started closing all programs prior to walking away from my imac before allowing it sleep. That includes safari and mail. I only have been doing this for a few days, but have been having great success. I agree with others above.....Apple needs to fix this. I will continue this practice and update if anything changes.

Maybe this upcoming 10.8.2 update will resolve this issue.

ARGH! After update to 10.8.2, still having network issues. As it is know, it appears that it does connect after sleep. However, the ethernet connection just drops when it feels lime it. At first I thought it was a DHCP issue, seeing errors in my router, so I manually entered an IP address. Well...the problem still is there. I have seen threads about router fw and such.....my iMac is the only device having issues....so no, it's not the router. And all was fine until I upgraded to Mountain Lion. Apple..HELP!!!!!!

Right there with everyone. I have a '11 MacBook Pro and after reboots, the ethernet connection is fine.

Apple has really turned OS X into Windows 98 and NT where everything you do needs a reboot.

I've been having this problem also since upgrading to ML. I have an iMac 27" and it is 10 months old. It is frustrating, because whatever I'm streaming from my iTunes library stops when my computer enters sleep mode.

My main reason for posting is getting email alerts when someone post to this thread in hopes that this problem is finally resolved.

Ok...been doing some messing around the last couple days. This is where I ended up: turned off sleep of hard drive, manually set dns settings (open dns and google) and search domain (http://www.bing.com). As of the last 24 hours, very stable. I had an issue a day ago where after sleep, my Ethernet connection would cycle between connected and disconnect repeatedly. I ended up unplugging the Ethernet cable for about 15 mins, and used the wifi. This issue is extremely annoying, but at least we don’t have system crashes like that “M” software. Last night I did manually "sleep" my iMac, and when I "woke" it up this am, it was connected.

Also, I stumbled upon this forum….looks like it’s been an issue for a while.

Hi to all on this forum,

the 10.8.2 update does nothing to resolve this issue.

After a thunderstorm and lightning slowed my Orange.fr internet to 80 KB/sec I downloaded the update and nothing has changed the disconnect problem!

We all have to carry-on waiting for the Apple reply:

here is a challenge to this forum:

which value to give to X in the expression

"Update 10.8.X is available"

Only values greater than 2 are allowed....
