How to reinstall Lion over Mountain Lion?

I installed ML on my iMac and Macbook Pro but am getting bad problems on the iMac now. I'm afraid the same will happen on the Macbook and want to go back to Lion on it. Is it possible to do that?

Only if you have a clone backup, or a USB flashdrive version of Lion can recover Lion on your system. In the future always backup your system before upgrading. Read this tip on upgrading to Mountain Lion before doing so on any future machine. Someone with a USB Flashdrive version of Lion may be able to help you at a Mac usergroup. If your Mac shipped with Lion, call Applecare for a special Flash drive that allows you to restore it, as the version another user has may not work, unless it was made with the same vintage/model Mac. See this link for usergroups at http://www.apple.com/usergroups/

I've been backing up on TM regularly. I've never needed to restore before, didn't even know it can reinstall the OS.

When I open TM I get a series of windows labelled Desktop: if I choose a day before installing ML, will TM reinstall Lion and everything that i've backed up? (I'm scared of screwing up and making things even worse!)
