Is Lego Mindstorms NXT 2.0 Mountain Lion Compatible?

Is Lego Mindstorms NXT 2.0 software compatible with Mountain Lion?

My son saved money for a long time and finally last week had enought to buy NXT.

I'd like to upgrade my Lion to Mountain Lion but since this NXT is the most important thing in house at the moment I don't want to ruin the experience with uncompatible OS.

OS X Mountain Lion

I found a fix to the problem that worked for me.

1. Open the location of the disk and click the file "LEGOMindstormsEngRet.mpkg"

The installation should take place and will install the software.

Once it is installed it should work like normal.

2. If you do not have the disk, you can download the file from here:

Unzip the file and run the .mpkg file.

We have two Mindstorms, one we purchased less than a year ago. The first one came with software from 2009; the second with software from September, 2011. After I uninstalled Flash and all Mindstorms software, I reinstalled the newer version of the software (when I tried to install the older version, it said it wasn't compatible with the Mac). I'm running Mac OS X Lion 10.7.2 (11C74).

We've opened it for the first time and my son is programming. So far it's working, but who knows what will happen...

Thank you to Matt Knight for posting the link so that I could get my Mindstorm working on my Mac OSX. I'm not savvying with this at all and knew the Mindstorm used to work when I opened the software. It didn't occur to me that upgrading would cause a problem.

Can anyone here help me with my next issue. Being very neive when I bought the NXT Robot, I thought it was drop and drag and my son could use his Robot. I had no idea I would or my son would have to program the Robot. What is the best information for me to use to learn how to make the Robot work. I'm not an idiot I just don't know where to start to learn how to use the Robot. Thank you for your help again.

I have also left one of my Macs on Snow Leopard just for Mindstorms. You would think Lego would do a better job of supporting Macs because their demographics probably overlap quite a bit (high income households and/or education). I suspect it is their dependence on NI's LabView that limits Mac support.

My hope now is that they do a better job with EV3's software.

I just atteneded an EV3 workshop where i got to play with the new software. Very nice. The main points are that the higher priced 'brick' is WiFi enabled (yes, there will be a non-WiFi 'brick' version apparently), and the program is Mac compatible. In the workshop we were using Win7 and crashed twice in 3 hours .. but then it was Windows 😁
