Screen sharing not working in mountain lion

I had same issue after upgrading Macbook Pro to 10.8.5. Screen Sharing to my Mac Pro 10.7.5 stopping working.

After trying a few things, here's what worked:

On host mac: Go to Security & Privacy, Firewall Options... removed (minus sign) 'screensharingd' in the bottom list

Restarted host mac.

Thanks for the tip! I renamed those com.apple.alf.plist files and voila the screen sharing works. I had given up and was using LogMeIn, which works well - even remotely. They've dropped their free version and going to the pay version as the only option.
