I installed MultiBeast onto my MacBook Pro by mistake!

Hi installed MultiBeast onto MacBook Pro by mistake and checked all the boxes to install everything and now when I login to my computer the computer freezes and then starts beeping three times continually. I have to force shut it down by holding down the power button. It only boots in safe mode. Why I installed MultiBeast was because after I installed Mountain Lion it only booted in safe mode. One article said to install MultiBeast and that should fix it. That information was totally wrong. I later found out that it is for PC's that installed Mac on it. Read that apple discussion at this link.

Anyways, I would like to know how to uninstall MultiBeast. I was reading articles on how to but that didn't work. Does anybody know how to?

- (Hold Command+R on boot)

- Go to Terminal

- Go to your /System/Library/Extensions folder on your main OS X partition (not the recovery one), for me (with my partition called "Macintosh HD") it was /Volumes/Macintosh\ HD/System/Library/Extensions

cd /

cd "/Volumes/Macintosh HD/System/Library/Extensions"

- create a backup folder somewhere and move ALL the kext files out of the "Extensions" folder.

- copy the Kext files from the Lion recovery partition to the OSX disk, e.g.;

cp -R /System/Library/Extensions/* /Volumes/Macintosh\ HD/System/Library/Extensions

- also move the /Extra (in my case /Volumes/Macintosh\ HD/Extra) folder somewhere else

- Reboot while clearing the PRAM; shut down the Mac, start it holding [Option]+[Command]+P+R until you hear a sound and the laptop restarts itself again

I used the Messages filter in Mountain Lion and came across this post which has no question about the Messages app that was introduced in Mountain Lion.

I hoe this helps with explaining what the Tags and the Category items are used for so that you can make better targeted posts in the future.

Excuse me.

I do limit myself to helping people with iChat and now Messages app problems.

A new version of the software has been realised and with it a new variation of the app I am following.

Do you appreciate the waste of time I felt reading your post when I could have been helping someone else ??

If I knew what Multibeast was and knew what to do about it I would have said.

You seemed to be new so I posted the info knowing it would help you next time.

I am sorry if my helping you is too difficult to accept with grace.

Hi,

An Older article

The issue might be about the pattern of 3 beeps.

IF...

If the Install was about a PC app on to the Mac OS then possibly the firmware could be involved but I doubt it.

I am not sure the OS would actually let you do this.

However....

It appears MultiBeast is an App to help get the Mac OS to run On PCs.

In this case it may well mess with the firmware.

The Original Poster is probably going to need to Reinstall Mountain Lion. (After Erasing the Disk)
