No Wake-on-LAN possible since updating to ML

I've tried everything over the course of several months and this my official FIX.

Fix:

1. Open "System Preferences". ( computer only), (Windows computer unknown)

2. Open "Network".

3. Click on the "Sprocket with down arrow".

4. Select "Make Service Order"

5. Move the connection your using (Wifi, Ethernet, etc.) to the top, and click Apply.

6. If you selected Ethernet, then turn OFF Wifi in the top menu.

7. Shut DOWN your computer and then restart after completely shutting down.

What's in your Service Order and what order (from the top)?

Is Wake for Network Access checked in Energy Saver?

You could try and reset SMC and PRAM, however should not make any difference.

and I tried and SMC and PRAM reset before.

I have the same problem, I reseted SMC, and PRAM, and nothing, Later i will check the my Service Order and I'll do the Mini-Mac test.

It's hard to determine your problem without addition information.....here's a screen shot

I did this, but it doesn't work.

I have two routers, a comtrend and tp-link (AP), i have open the ports 7 and 9 in both and wake for ethernet access is click.

Wake on Lan works, the problem is Wake on Wan, This worked until two weeks ago.

But my fix is for WOL (wake for local area network access) not WAN (wake on wide area network access).

BTW, FYI, Time Capsule, Airport Express and Airport Extreme and be setup over WAN

If I need to access my computer remotely (very rare) I use Back-To-My-Mac. But I do use a Synology DS and Cloud Station to sync files and folders across several Mac's.

Ok, ok, I use an application in my iphone (SleepOver), it was able send a magic packet over LAN or WAN.

I'll check Back to My Mac feature.

Anyway, in my case, i think that the problem is "Wake for network access" feature, now it only works on wifi, and previously it worked for Ethernet too, but i don't know why...maybe it's because of the last SW update (i have a mid 2007 Imac).

The only way I found to make sure that Wake On Wan works over Internet is to let Bittorrent run, which seems to maintain active the network connection without preventing the sleep mode for screen, CPU and disks. Thus, the network active, WOL is operational!

But it is not the solution, the correct solution would be your mac is sleep and you send a magic packet (LAN or WAN) and wake up when you want. In my case i always wake up my mac to download any torrent or use the plex remotely.

Indeed, I agree that there is a bug. I use QuikIO, a file server with an iOS client and TeamViewer for Remote Control. None of these applications respond to WOL via the Internet from my client on iPad.

Is this fixed in 10.8.4?

I updated my MacMini at home this morning, and I have been able to wake it every single time I tried SSH'ing into it from work.

On two occasions it wouldn't wake, but by sending a magick packet I was able to wake it on both occasions.
