problem updating iTunes...

I downloaded the newest version of iTunes and now an icon with "iTunesSetup" is stuck on my desktop. When I try to run it the message says it's not a valid Win32 application. If I try to delete it, it says that "it is being used by another person or program. Close any programs that might be using the file and try again." How do i get this icon off my desktop? it doesn't look good!

Will it let you rename it? Do you get any kind of
error message when you try renaming it?

I dunno if it's worth paying someone to delete it.

No, it won't let me rename it. The error message displays, "Cannot rename iTunesSetup: It is being used by another person or program. Close any programs that might be using the file and try again."
Of course, I have no other windows open.

hi cocochin!

delving back into the archives, i found that Jeff
eventually had to use the "delete on reboot" option
with Pocket Killbox in order to get rid of his
immovable icons:

have you tried that yet? (sorry i can't give you more
specific advice on this, but i've never actually used
Pocket Killbox myself.)

also from the archives ... here's something on
possible malware causes of the immovable icons:

SUCCESS!!!!!!YES YES YES YES YES!!!!!

"Delete on Reboot" worked. Killbox is my new favorite program . B Noir and Katrina S., Thank you SO much for sticking with me through all these posts. I know it might have been child's play but you two kept at it and succeeded. Thank you so much.
Katrina S, you were right, there was nothing attached to the icon. I'm guessing that somehow, someway the transfer of the update got interrupted and I recieved the icon but then nothing else after that. Does that sound too simple? i don't know, all I know is that you and B Noir are very helpful and you two should be the two top rated members of the forums. Thank you and take care.
