Reopening Safari 6 doesn't restore open tabs
Is there a way to have Safari 6 reopen the tabs that were active when it is closed and reopened?
Thanks.

Ah yes, that *does* work but I don't understand quite why it is no longer default behaviour.
cmd + z is not the solution to this particular problem. CT's History > Reopen Last Closed Window does work though.
In Safari click on Safari then Preferences then under Drop down box Named Safari Opens With A New Window, to All Windows From Last Session.
😉
I no longer see an option called "Safari Opens with a New Window". I did find the menu item under History "Reopen All Windows from last session".
I never had that box checked and it seems if you restart your computer or accidently close your browser window all the open tabs dissapear. There is a menu option to reopen them but I want that to be the default behavior!
This behaviour is as ******** as the hide/minimize button which does exactly the same.
If the hide button acted normally as a close button this problem (and many others) would be solved. And please don't tell me this is something amazing, because it just feels like crap.
Actually, it is pretty amazing.
I've found what could be a fix until Apple patches this issue.
thanks. very helpful.
Ok! You're welcome!
i have the same problem.
reopen last session's tabs worked in the first time i set it to do so, and then it went back to its original behavior, wich is open with start page only.
i have re set the configuration to reopen all tabs from last session automatically on launch three times, and yet, i have already lost a lots of sites i was browsing.
i agree that what makes apple worth its price are these minor but meaningfull details.
so, has anyone got to a solution since december 2012?
cheers
Yup - try this. It works for Safari but I have not checked for any side effects (other apps which changed behavior):
1 - System Preferences -> General -> Restore Windows when quitting … <= UNCHECK
2 - Safari -> Preferences -> General -> Safari opens with: All windows from last session
The Safari option will NOT show if the SystemPreferences … Restore Windows … is CHECKED.
Also, if the SystemPreferences … Restore Windows … is CHECKED after the Safari Preference, it reverts back to no restore!
One more caveat: I have multiple users on this system where one Safari restored and one did not. I wanted both to restore - go figure. Must have been something left over after the upgrade from Leopard. However, I could not dig it out.
Forgot to list OS: Lion (10.7.5)
Hi there, I did as you suggested and still after quitting Safari to turn off my computer, when I turn it on again and click on safari I just get options as to what bookmarks I want to open. I go to History and the "open windows from last session" is greyed out. I have unchecked the box under the System preferences/General and still no change. I am using ox 10.9.4 so would that make a difference? anyone else know?
