Desktop Icons Stick to Cursor

Can't seem to get this to go away without putting the machine to sleep and waking it back up.

If I click to drag a drop a file on my desktop it sticks to cursor like a cloned image of the file and the actually file can't be moved. I've seen this EXACT same thing back when I had Air Display installed on my machine but that had been uninstalled quite awhile back. Had a pretty hard crash today that took several attempts to reboot (finally did a Safe Boot and then restart in order to get back to my desktop) That was when this issue showed up. Any thoughts/advice how to fix?

This behaviour of broken drag and drop like I said was similar to the AirDisplay glitch and relized that maybe installing AirParrot this week was the cause. Which it turned out the driver that extends the display and plays through the audio was a similar .kext file

Sooo

until Apple fixes this driver bug for these older MacBook Pros (Late 2008) I guess I have to continue with this sleep workaround.
