I'd like to add mailboxes to my Comcast email account that I use on my Ipad. Do I need to go to the Comcast website? Will Ipad pick them up? Is there a way to do it from the ipad?
Nope. Just go to settings, mail....hit add account. Then hit other. You add Comcast as an other account. Just fill in your email and password. The iPad should pick up everything else.
I set my moms Comcast up like that on hers. If you are having trouble, google Comcast email on iPad. I found a few pages with specifics like domain etc... But recently (I think on comcasts end) it should pick it up automatically.
I have the account set up. I have several folders in my comcast email account when I do webmail. You're saying that these folders will be picked up by the ipad mail program?
Depends on the type of mail account. For POP, in most cases, no. For IMAP, or,accounts set up as exchange accounts, it should. You might check the Comcast support website for more detailed instructions.
Comcast does not support IMAP, better way is to use a free http://www.gmail.com account that support IMAP on the iPad;

Actually, even though Comcast is POP, you can set up additional folders on the server and if you use the Xfinity Connect app - the Comcast email app for iOS - those folders will sync to the iPad. You don't need gmail to do this.

interesting... I wondered about this. as yet my folders on webmail haven't shown up on the ipad yet. I can access the comcast email easily using the xfinity mobile app. so far that's my best option.
POP accounts don't seem to sync folders... gmail works... still wondering about syncing ... got enough to go on. thanks.
