Multiple accounts in 1 iTunes

I have an iPhone with my apple account that is connected to my mac and my sister has here iPad with her own account. She has no computer at the moment so she wanted to update her iPad using my iTunes. Is it possible to have multiple accounts in iTunes and how can I incorporate her iPad into my iTunes for her to be able to update her iPad? Thanks.

Yes. You can have two separate iTunes accounts and two separate iTunes libraries on the same computer. You must tap the SHIFT key when start iTunes , it will then ask you which library to choose and you go from there. It is a lot easier just to use two separate computers or use the same iTunes library and a series of smart playlists to separate content but it is possible to keep everything separate.

You can have multiple iTunes libraries on one computer, using the method that Tom described above, or by having you sister create her own user account on the Mac.

But, you still have to make the new iTunes library your sisters own syncing library or iTunes will want to erase everything on the device because you can only sync the content that is in iTunes. So if your sister starts with an empty iTunes library, it will sync no content at all.

However, you can transfer her iPad content into her iTunes library on your Mac and this user tip will tell you how to do that for her.

I had posted this in the "iTunes for Windows" category and then later found these postings under iPad>using iPad category. I think my posting is more relevant to this discussion. I hope I will not be faulted for a duplicate posting. Perhaps the Moderator can remove one.

My desktop in India has iTunes and has my iPhone 3GS and iPad2 synced to it.

Visiting the US now and bought a new iPhone 4S which I synced to my son's iTunes. When I go back to India do I create a new Apple ID so that I can retain music and other Apps which are currently on my 4S? If not, how do transfer my 4S stuff to a new iTunes library which I can create in my computer at home?

It’s really not intuitive. I really dislike iTunes and I am a long time Apple user.

In the current release (11.02) I have trouble trying to manage my single devise with out a frustrating cognitive load trying to figure it out. I’m disappointed and looking to adopt something another software even though I spent weeks digitizing my library years ago into iTunes.
