Hyperlink trouble

My hyperlinks change color when rolled over in iWeb, but when published to my site they DO NOT change color when rolled over. I am working with iWeb v.3.0.4. Ideas anyone?

It was done some time back: actually it may have been done on the other machine and that is slightly older and might have the previous version - I'll check when I put it on tomorrow. Though why the later version should mess things up I don't know. I don't use iWeb normally - I found it useful to make this site for a friend - but none of this bodes well for people who want to go on using it.

It could be that since Apple is keeping the MMe servers up so users can download their files the icons are still available for the slideshow. I demonstrated to myself that they would go by disconnecting from the internet and playing a slideshow from a locally published site.

Maybe Apple will keep that/those servers going indefinitely just for the icon's sake and we won't have to modify iWeb to get the icons back. Let's hope.

Evidently they aren't, as can be seen from Roddy's site. The interesting question is how come his site is attempting to use the MobileMe version, where mine is happily using images on my server (even though I can't find them there).

I changed the slideshow by following OT's tutorial.

The only difference was that I named my folder "iweb-slideshow-assets" to stop it conflicting with an existing one...

The tutorial is easy to follow and shouldn't cause any problems if you follow OT's advice and backup iWeb.app. I already had a copy that I use for launching two sites at the same time.

I added a note about it to this page...

I'm not rising to your bait but just created a new slideshow with iW 3.0.3 and it does add the slideshow control icons to the Media folder of of the website. (I got 3.0.3 by extracting it from the iWeb 3.0.3 updater with Pacifist).

So if Roger does not update to 3.0.4 he won't have to worry about the servers.

here is javascript for your good slidehow:

search for baseURL, they are different. code doesn't lie.

I didn't do any fiddles

so you did at some point, by post editting.

the problem was id a year ago:

https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3139186?start=0&tstart=0

the real solution is an installation package to patch up the code and the images.

because average iweb users would mess up when they hack around in iweb and have no idea what is what and where is where.

Obviously, Apple isn't about to update iWeb so what would you suggest users do - just stop using the slideshow?

Changing one URL in the iWPopUpSlideshow.js isn't exactly rocket science. Most people should manage quite well following OT's tutorial.

It would be even easier if someone hosted the files and offered a download of the script for those that aren't comfortable with modifying the code and uploading the assets. Then all they would have to do is drop the file into the appropriate folder in the iWeb app package. But then that's probably illegal since apple has a © on the script.

It is Apple's mess but they aren't going to clean it up now that they have stopped supporting iWeb.
