My iPod classic charges funny..

When I charge my iPod classic via an iPod touch wall charger and sometimes my computer, the charging screen flashes between the words charged and charging... ** when I unplug it, it shows that its nt full battery yet. I have the iPod classic 80gb from 2005 I think. The battery use time has also been significantly decreased even though I only used my iPod a few times. Should I get the battery placed?

Additional.

My iPod syncs fine with my windows computer. Only when it charges is it weird

This could be early signs of a dying battery, but before we jump to any sort of such conclusions, have you tried charging the iPod with a different (known working) USB dock connector cable? The currently cable could be damaged, faulty, or shorting out.

It wouldn't hurt to also reset your iPod and then try charging it once again. To do this, press and hold both the Select (Center) and Menu buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.

Depends on where you purchase the replacement battery or send your iPod in for repair. Apple can swap out the battery for the price indicated on this page.

If you want to purchase and replace the battery yourself, I would suggest looking on Amazon or eBay for good deals and then using the guides over at http://www.ifixit.com to walk you through the replacement process.
