2012 Retina Macbook Pro WiFi problem

I have a 2012 Macbook Pro with Retina display that's been upgraded to Mountain Lion. It is having WiFi connection issues.

Specifically,

1. Upon startup it will not find the network. I have to turn off the wifi and turn it back on to have it find the network. Annoying. It used to happen only intermittently; now it happens every start up. It's getting worse.

2. It will randomly every few hours drop the wifi connection, requiring me to turn off the wifi and turn it back on.

I've tried the one fix people on here suggested: deleting the wifi network profile I use and putting it back in.

Didn't make a difference.

Has anyone found a better fix?

I'm disappointed that Apple released this version of OS with such a glaring problem. A laptop without a reliable wifi connection is a complete waste of money.

i just changed the channel on my router on the 2.40Ghz Band to Channel 6.... Wifi Up and using bluetooth....

Similar problem, will #apple release an update to resolve this? The constant disconnection of wifi is extremely frustrating and causes unnecessary delays

There is no "off" option for IPv6 on Ethernet or WiFi on my #MBPr.

The video that aalrashdi linked to provides a terminal command for Macs that don't show the 'Off' option in System Preferences.

just tried the command "networksetup setv6off Wi-Fi" and it clearly sets ipV6 to off.

See if this improves Wifi.....

The IPv6 shutoff seems to have fixed my rMBP Wi-Fi problem... finally!!! Thanks all who contibuted to that.

Turning of V6 makes a huge difference. My 5g connection now actually works faster then the cable.

Looks to me that there is something wrong with the automatic setting for v6 when not configured. but then i could just be lucky again. Anyway looks better rthen it ever has so i'm optimistic.

Same for me...

I changed the IPv6 setting to "Link-local only", and also changed the MTU to Custom-1468.

So far, the wifi connection has been stable, and the Speedtest.net download speeds have been pretty decent.

I can watch all my YouTube videos in HD again.

Updating to 10.8.5 solved my problems. I have been running stable for 2 days now on a Wifi that would disconnect in 30 sec before.

MBP Retina i7 15".

10.8.5.

Reset router.

Bluetooth Off.

IPv6 Off.

/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration.backup Shift+Cntrl+Optn+Power. Tried three times.

Deleting and re-adding Preferred Network. Tried eight times.

Still no Wi-Fi, only hotspot from iPhone.

Any help very much appreciated.

Have you found a solution for this ? I have the same issue with you on my 2012 RMBP and I get my wifi card replaced by apple. But I still have around 10% packet loss on wifi even if the router is only 1 meter away.

I have same problem ,I think when OSX is start up it loss WIFI card driver after that it is index on the OSX and found driver

I install os x mavericks but It isn't solve this problem

hey everyone - i just tried changing MTU to Custom and made it 1453. I changed IPv6 to "local.." and also reset DHCP. wifi seems to work okay for now. hasn't dropped in 20 minutes. hope it helps.
