mountain lion crash reboot

Since I have upgraded my Macbook Pro from Snow Leapord to Mountain Lion (about a week ago), my laptop crashed 4 times. It appears this happens when I work on the Office for Mac (Outlook) application. Once it had to rebuild the database which took over an hour.

I am getting concerned because in the 2 years I've used Snow Leapord, I had no crashes at all, now in a period of a week, Ive had 4.

Can Office for Mac be the reason?

MacBook Pro, OS X Mountain Lion, 4GB RAM Core i5 2.4GHz

I see on that link reference to: This worldwide Apple program does not extend the standard warranty coverage of the affected MacBook Pro.

This means the "standard warranty" is not extended (like Apple Care planes does), non program does, so only applies for that specific problem mencined, not other problems wich standard warranty do. The program is wordwide, so covers wordwide.

Please post you experience later!

good luck

I have contacted Apple Support about this today.

I was told that as mine was a 2011 MacBook Pro the graphic card issue (which that warranty extension) would not be the issue.

To find out more they wanted to charge me £35.00 to continue with telephone support - which I declined on the basis that it shouldn't cost me anything to sort out their problem.

I asked for an address to write to - and was given one for Customer Support in the Republic of Itreland (I'm in England) that I'd have to send a letter to as it didn't have an e-mail address.

Frankly I find Apple Custopmer service a bigger 'joke' then this pathectic software they released. 😠

I have submitted my Macbook at local Apple representatives. It looks like the issue has now been resolved. The only problem was that it took them a long time for my Macbook to "fail" the test so that they could replace the component under warranty.

It was only after I have explained to them that they need to dissable the gfxCardStatus software (because this made my Mac less prone to crashing) were they able to similate the problem.

So after 2 weeks I received my Mac and touch wood; after 2 days of active working on it, no more dreaded black screens...

HI Alekb

You have got a new logic board. Is it because of the "black screen issue"? I have a MacBook Pro mid 2010. After I installed lion I have had many "black screens".

What exactly do apple look for, when they decide to replace the logic board. Is it NVRM[0/1:0:0]: Read Error 0x00000100 ?

I have run all hardware tests, and there are no errors.

Can there be a problem with the grafic card anyway?

Feb 26, 2013 7:55 AM in response to palleba

Hi palleba,

yes exactly, the fails came from the graphic card that is welded to the logic board, soy you have to change all. The TS4088 replacement plan is for this issue, so you may have to run in to a service because this ends 3 years after you buy the macbook.

You can read more about how many people applied for this plan here: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3114550

good luck!

Hi All Together

I have the happy news, that Apple in the Faroe Islands have replaced my logic board for free on the extra-prolonging 3 years warranty due to graphics card error.🙂

My computer's own hardware test found no errors.

Apple has an extra graphics card test that can catch the error at the MacBook Pro mid 2010

Good luck to you all
