Mountain Lion - random kernel panic

Arcadiana, can you tell us how you solved the problem. I am getting the same type of crash on 10.8.2, once a day in average on a MBP from early 2011. No, I don't have Apple Care anymore, I missed the upgrade window.

You have a Mid 2010 Macbook Pro. There were some with bad video cards. See this article: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4088

If you take it to an Apple Service Center they can test to see if it is that problem, and, if so, they will replace the logic board for free, up to 3 years from date of purchase.

I wish I could tell you, but mine is crashing 2-3 times per day. I'm just resigned to live with it....

Living with it is unsatisfactory.You need to resolve the KPs.

I made an appointment, the interesting part is that they already replaced the mainboard once on my MBP while in warranty. That time one morning it failed to start, completly dead, and even the power let on the charger was so dimmed that it was almost imposible to see.

I will find out in three days, it seems that in Cambridge you need to book 6 days ahead for a MBP problem.

Same issue here. I removed a few 3rd party system enhancements a few days ago and it seemed to stabilize. Today the issue is back... 3 times in 6 hours. I'm a designer - so every time I lose 30 minutes, 2 hrs, etc od photoshop or InDesign work - I want to throw my laptop out the 3rd story window.

See my post above. There isn't any software update that is going to fix your problem. You need to take it in and get it serviced. It is very likley it is the covered problem, so they will replace the logic board for free.
