ever since I upgraded to mountain lion my cursor changed shape from an arrow to "cross hairs." How do I get it back to an arrow?

I upgraded months ago but this cursed cursor problem just happened to me today. Thank you for the simple fix!

This definitely fixed it! But, I could only find these files by using spotlight. When I opened the folder for internet plugins, nothing was showing? I guess they are all hidden?

Briliant, thanks for the solution. This just started happening this morning but not just in Safari so never would have made that connection, found this thread and tried ditching the plug ins and it's worked.

Much appreciated, the crosshairs was a minor irritation but an irritation none the less.

Thanks for this - it's been driving me a little bit nuts for ages - never nuts enough to research the problem, but today I finally took the couple of minutes to do a Google search which led me right here - problem solved

THANK YOU! This was driving me nuts too! it solved the problem in a new Macbook Pro with Mavericks. Why doesn't Apple just get rid of this problem in the next update--it's got to cost a lot in support and unhappy users. I may be a tyro, but couldn't they just include a script in the next update to remove these plugins?

This has also fixed the latest silliness I was having - the cursor became a sideways i-beam when over text in Safari.

Thanks! I just had this problem after upgrading to Yosemite. It is such a bigger problem than you'd ever guess. It's impossible to do fine work when the cursor is a crosshair!

just absolutely incredible that you came up with this fix! happened to me (modern MBP in sierra 10.12.1) after downloading+opening a pdf file on a medical website in safari. that stupid tough-to-find crosshair cursor persisted since... tried everything in vain (I am a professional mac consultant!) till finding your brilliant total fix here. you ROCK.
