Apps not appearing in launchpad
Why do some of my applications not show up in launchpad since upgrading to Mountain Lion? Is there some way to add them?

Another weird solution I found that works is to move the app from the app folder to the trash. Then move it out of the trash to the desktop, and then back to the app folder. I'm not sure if this just refreshed the recognition of the app but it seemed to have worked for me...
As far as adding the app back to the dock, this worked. I still can't get it to appear in launchpad though.
Thanks SoCalGadgetGuy, your answer solved my problem as to why DVD Player was not appearing in Launchpad.
Open up a finder window and goto your Applications folder. Highlight the apps that aren't showing and drag them into the Launchpad icon in the dock. They should now appear. 🙂
I agree that dragging missing app icons from the Applications folder to the Launchpad icon should make missing apps appear in the Launchpad, but it doesn't.
The last solution worked for me. All of the .db related solutions did absolutely nothing. The only tricky part is that dragging the apps onto the Launchpad dock icon only worked if I let go of the mouse button before Launchpad actually opens. After I do that and then open Launchpad they appear again. Thank you Micah88.
I found a fix for this:
Open LaunchPad
Search for the 'missing' app by typing the frist letter of the app name
If it appears on the search results
Drag it to where you want it on the launcher page
Thanks
That worked beautifully even on a 2016 MacBook Pro, thank you for a simple solution.
