Transfer it from the computer?
Email it to yourself and use the "Open In" - "Open in Pages" feature in the email.
Use file sharing with iTunes.
If you have a DropBox account and the DropBox app on the iPad, you can use that as well.
Word files are compatible with Pages so you can just open the file in Pages without having to convert it ... if that is what you mean. You will lose some of the formatting and the fonts when you use Pages with Word files created on a computer.
