Agreed that it's not SOLELY a PowerNap issue and has some deeper cause because it clearly affects Macs that are not powernap capable; however, it does seem to be a sleep related issue and perhaps primarily PowerNap TRIGGERED for at least some number of us who have PowerNap capable MacBook Pros.
As mentioned above, both my wife and I are running virtually identical machines (although we are running different background and other apps) and her machine did not have PowerNap enabled. So a starting point for me in figuring out what TRIGGERED the issue on mine but not hers was to look at those various apps, menubar items, etc. and other settings such as PowerNap. At least for me (and apparently a few others) the problem has not manifested itself - at least across 2-3 overnight sleep cycles - after disabling PowerNap.
Call it a potential workaround for some of us rather than a cure.
