Trine 2 issues on Macbook Pro Retina

Hi, I'm a new owner of a Macbook Pro Retina and not long after a bought the computer I decided to download and purchase Trine 2 from the app store. I figured I would buy a game that could really utilize the high quality retina screen, however Trine 2 does NOT properly initialize when selecting any of the resolutions especially not the native resolution that I would hope it to run on. I've researched the issue and it is common, something to do with the last updated version of the game provide by the Mac App Store clashing with Mountain Lion. I'm not able to find a patch to fix the issue even though I've heard that one may exist. That said if there isn't a fix for the issue, I think it's time to get a refund.

If anyone can provide a solution to this problem I would really appreciate it, and if there is a link to the solution that would be even better!

Dan

The link below mentions a fix is available, but I can not for the life of me find this mysterious patch!

Had the same problem. After upgrading to Mountain Lion and Trine v1.16 from the App Store, the game wouldn't run properly scaled at 2880x1800. Now it works perfectly, but I'm still not sure specifically which change fixed it. Some possible fixes are discussed below, such as using gfxCardStatus to switch to Discrete Only mode.
