How can I get Contacts to print out alphabetically?

I know there are a couple of options (Lists, Pocket Address Book) that will get an alphabetical list of my Contacts -- but both of those print strangely, arranging items in a couple of different ways on a single page, having entries run into one another, etc.

I want ALL my contacts to print, whether they have mailing addresses of not. I usually require only Name and Email.

Shouldn't this be perfectly straightforward? It has been, to the best of my recollection, in every other address book I've ever used, Mac and PC.

Would appreciate guidance here.

Hi. I too wanted to print out my contacts:

Found a way - Mavericks OS, may work in previous too.

Open Contacts, Select the group: 'All Contacts', select all contacts (command A)-they will turn blue when u select them all; command P (get print dialogue box); 'Show Details' in print dialog box.; Style: set to 'Pocket Address Book'.

To preview: on bottom of print dialog click PDF, then click 'open PDF in Preview'

you will then see a preview of all the info it is going to print.

Notice how on the side of the preview, it even shows in little black boxes the alphabetical letters, like, ABCD.....so you can easily see what you 'page' you are on. Also, as u can see, for Attributes: can choose which things it prints.

did not print, but was thrilled it works....thanks to your link to the Dummies thing...even tho that didint completely work, it showed how to do. just had to select 'Pocket Address Book for style.

I have about 400 contacts and it was 17 pages, but you could do a screen grab (command, shift 4, drag over area wanted) of the pages and reformat them to 2 columns for each page, then get less pages.

The first 2 pages, in the preview, were in 2 columns, but the rest of the pages were 1 column each.

Also tried to change the font in the printing dialog box as is offered, but it did not change from 'Courier'

Also crashed Contacts several times...but other that that, seems it will work.

hope this helps you all

warmly,

hope

as you will note, the dummies link does mention:

You can also print envelopes and pocket address book pages in a similar manner; just choose the desired entry from the Style pop-up menu

you just have to select all the contacts, not just the group name.

Pretty simple actually, after spending about an hour trying to figure it out. Running Mac OS X ver 10.7.5 - but I imagine that it's the same regardless. It's so simple that you overlook and over think it.

Open your Address Book. At the top is the Menu bar.

1. Edit.

2. Select all - contacts should turn blue

3. File - Print

New menu appears. And you should see a sample in the box on the left.

Make sure 'All' radio button is on.

In 'Attributes' click all relevant boxes to choose which ones you'd like printed in the file.

Print

And Voila! All printed in alphabetical order.

A free iOS App called Contact Sheet lets users Group, Print and Share their contacts easily in form of PDF / Excel / VCF via iPhone & iPad.

- Group the contacts from Apple iOS device phone book

- Export the contacts in form of PDF file or Excel Spread Sheet

- Print the Contact Sheet PDF from iOS device with page setup & layout setup.

- Share entire group of contacts in VCF format using the app

- While Printing & Sharing multiple contacts, you can specify the fields to share like Photo, Name, Email, Phone, Notes etc.

- Sort the Printing of the contacts by First Name, Last Name, Company, City, Zipcode, etc.

(note: none of these features are available in native Apple app)
