SoF2 Mac install problem...
Greetings,
I recently purchase MacPlay's Soldier of Fortune II: Double Helix (Mac) from Amazon.com, but it won't install SoF2.
I run the Install Soldier of Fortune II program and it ejects Disc 1 and asks for Disc 2. The dialog box is a "old" style insert second disc message. Kinda reminds me of Mac OS 8/9. Anyways, when I insert Disc 2 it accesses it, it temporarily mounts in the Finder, and then Disc 2 is ejected, but the dialog box doesn't change and it still asks for Disc 2.
Now, it doesn't matter whether I use a single CD drive and swap discs or 2 CD drives. In my situation, I have an Apple internal DVD-RAM drive and an external FireWire Pioneer DVR-110. I tried installing with both Discs 1 and 2 already inserted and mounted. I even tried making disk image files of the CDs, but to no avail.
I tried booting off a secondary drive with a "clean" Mac OS X 10.4.5 and my sons' iMac G5, but same thing. It asks for Disc 2, but the installer won't recognize it.
The program simply won't install. It asks for Disc #2, but it doesn't recognize it.
Another ODD thing...the version number. I merely insert Disc 1, scroll down to the bottom of the window, select SOF II - Single Player, select Get Info from the File menu and I get the following information...
General:
Kind: Application (PowerPC)
Size: 16.2 MB on disk (16,663,153 bytes)
Where: /Volumes/Solder of Fortune II
Created: Thursday, July 11, 2002 11:23 PM
Modified: Friday, July 12, 2002 12:18 AM
Version: SOF2 version 0.1, Copyright 2001 _MyCompanyName_.
It's my understanding that SoF2 for the Mac shipped at version 1.0.1.
I guess MacPlay's QA did not catch the omission of "1." and the company name...?
Any assistance would be appreciated.
