iPhoto export error "Unable to create /users/..."

I am using iPhoto '09 and I am running OS X 10.6.8. I have created a folder on my desktop in which I was to export 312 photos to using the title for the filename. When I go to File > Export and set the option is starts running and then all of a sudden stop with the message "Unable to create /users/...". I have tried having it export to the desktop and I still get he message. I have even created the folder it's to export to. No matter where I export to or how I do it it still only exports 45 of the 312 photos. If I have it name the file sequentially it did 174.

I think this means that the error is being cause from iPhoto trying to rename the photos. We wanted to use the title so we can send these photos as they are photos of great grandparents etc.

Anyone know how to resolve this issue?

Thank you

iPhoto '08, Mac OS X (10.6.8), Really it's iPhoto '09

Another day another dollar .... Deleted both and trouble continues. Today noticed a 3rd file: com.apple.iphotomosaic.plist, that I did not delete prior to reopening iPhoto. Also, last night I deleted the first two as you instructed, but shut down and did not open iPhoto to test until this morning. I noted that upon starting up my Mac those two files were back even before I opened iPhoto. Maybe I misunderstood, but I thought you said those files would rebuild the next time I opened iPhoto, not just be starting up my Mac. Anyway, deleted them again and started iPhoto with same trouble, as I said.

Did I misunderstand how those files rebuild?

Should I deleted all three iPhoto plist files, open iPhoto and try exporting again? (I double checked, there are only three)

Thanks for jumping in, Toad, under a work deadline here so will have to try your suggestion at a later time.

Terence, your request was easy to comply with quickly .... Console messages after the error message follows, and since I never gave you the full text of that iPhoto export error message, it is:"Unable to create /Users/Aurora/Pictures/export" (Aurora is my user name).

Here's what was in Console after opening iPhoto (I cleared Console beforehand) and after my first export:

After the second, failed export, it added just one line:

3/4/14 1:30:30.790 PM Finder[166]: CreateWithFileInfo failed to create URL with FSRef, falling back to blank icon.

Yes, I read much of this thread and it seemed like most had the suggestion of getting rid of .png files and .mov files because they are causing the errors.

I managed to find the solution you suggest right here:

File ➙ Export ➙ File Export menu option with Kind = Original.

And the other/better option for my situation, where I wanted to export my changes:

File ➙ Export ➙ File Export menu option with Kind = Current.

Cheers!

Found a simple solution;

In Iphoto, select the movie; right click on the movie and select "copy; right click on your desktop or other folder in Finder and then select "paste Item";

The movie will be copied to that location in its original format.

You can change the name of the file/movie after you copy it.

Easy solution until Apple fixes the export movie issue.

You do realize that that method only gives you the preview version of the photo which is of a lower quality level than the original. If you want to get the original Option-drag to the desktop. That will give you the original file and is absolutely necessary if you're trying to get a video to the Desktop.

One reason for using the Export route is so you can include the metadata that you've added to the photo, i.e. keywords, titles, describptions, locations, etc.
