iPhoto export error "Unable to create /users/..."

Given that you are threadjacking a long and convoluted thread and supply no details about your personal situation the most general answer to your question is to export your photos as kind = original (see the user tip on exporting for details on export options available)

Yes, I read much of this thread and it seemed like most had the suggestion of getting rid of .png files and .mov files because they are causing the errors.

I managed to find the solution you suggest right here:

File ➙ Export ➙ File Export menu option with Kind = Original.

And the other/better option for my situation, where I wanted to export my changes:

File ➙ Export ➙ File Export menu option with Kind = Current.

Hi everybody!

+ 1 here can not export movies(mp4s) neither original nor current.

Tried the repair tool and the fix thubnails with no success.However, dragging them anywhere in the finder exports them.

Hope apple fixes it...

As a test launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and create a new, test library. Import some photos and test to see if the same problem persists. Does it?

Also what other fixes have you tried? What system and iPhoto versions are you running?

Really sorry for the late feed back.

I created a new library,imported one mp4 and managed to export it.

Also iphoto(with the original library) seems to export videos taken by my canon camera but refuses to export videos taken by samsung galaxy s3. By the way, I had no problem exporting videos before the update-I quess.

Try the following on your main library:

1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.

2 - Run Option #4, Rebuild Database.

Found a simple solution;

In Iphoto, select the movie; right click on the movie and select "copy; right click on your desktop or other folder in Finder and then select "paste Item";

The movie will be copied to that location in its original format.

You can change the name of the file/movie after you copy it.

Easy solution until Apple fixes the export movie issue.

The solution for me was simple, skip export completely and Drag the images from iPhoto into a folder in a finder window or desktop. Done, after wasting hours on all the clean up efforts and repeated export attempts. Once in that folder they can then be dragged into a new iPhoto version or library.

You do realize that that method only gives you the preview version of the photo which is of a lower quality level than the original. If you want to get the original Option-drag to the desktop. That will give you the original file and is absolutely necessary if you're trying to get a video to the Desktop.

One reason for using the Export route is so you can include the metadata that you've added to the photo, i.e. keywords, titles, describptions, locations, etc.
