deleting list in Reminders deleted my calendar

Bonjour World!

I have just installed Mountain Lion on my Macbook Pro. I was very excited that reminds is now part of the OS as I have it on both my iPhone and iPod and use it often, but was annoyed it wasn't on my computer. Upon opening the program for the first time, it had a lot of lists I don't use anymore under the heading "On My Mac" I wanted to clean up the list and only have the ones from reminders, so I set about deleting the other lists. With each list, when I clicked delete reminders told me:

"This list is also a calendar that contains events. If you delete this reminder list, your reminders will be removed, but your events will be preserved in Calendar. You cannot undo this action"

Clear enough... except for the fact it's not true. I deleted the lists from reminders and upon opening my calendar later, I noticed that all of my events, scheduals were all gone. I am ****** off that it blaintly contridicted it's self, but more over, wish to know if there is anyway I can get this information back.

Your help would be appricated.

Update: this morning it had randomly reverted, and the calendar archive I exported wouldn't work anymore... So I called Apple support, they answered right a way, didn't try to charge me, spoke crystal clear English, and told me how to restore it in about 60 seconds. So sorry about that windows comment Apple, I take it back ;-) (still irritated about the original issue though, but knowing this solution makes me feel much safer).

I too have been affected by the icloud drama.

When icloud first came out I gave it a go but gave up as it made a mess of all my devices, I had all my calendars organized in folders which icloud will not recognize and it ended up duplicating everything .

So recently with my new macbook air with mountain lion, thought maybe I would give it another try and it has been an even worse experience.

Reminders/Notes/Calendars/Mail should all sync seamlessly between devices but nope...

There were a bunch of folders in my reminders that I did not want....to my horror deleting a reminder folder deletes a calendar???? WHAT?!!! OMG everything is gone and my back up does not include all my entries that I have dones in the last 2 days which is close to a hundred different entrys for scheduling of different clients

icloud is the biggest joke! Never ever trying to use it again..... more of a headache than a help!

Apple I love your computers but the last few years your upgrades and improvments to OSX are not all that improved. It should not be this complicated and create these kind of dramas for your users.

This is still happening. I noticed a reminder list that had nothing in it, with the same name as one of my calendars. I deleted the list and received a warning that the reminders would be deleted but the events would remain. Clicked delete and my Calendar, which had events from 2004 to present, was gone. My time machine had not backed up in a couple of months, and so all current events were gone forever....or so I thought. I was able to log onto another device, turn off the wifi, and export the calendar before it was deleted. Why hasn't this bug been fixed yet????
