FIX headphone iphone - YouTube
If nothing works, such as q-tip trick, un-plug in and plug in of the headphone, bluetooth speaker trick, the Setting/General/Accessibility/incoming calls (audio routing for newer software)/set speaker, then headset, turning on shazam, activiate siri...etc. TRY THIS, 1) have someone call you, 2) turn on to speaker mode, 3)turn off the speaker, 4) plug in your headphone, 5) un-plug headphone. This should work!
So I had this issue and did ALL the tricks on youtube. ALL of them DID NOT work. But this did work. You can follow all the steps he did but what I did was a bit more basic. I went to Setting/General/Accessibility/audio routing -set speaker.
Then I used gmail to call myself but I'm sure you can have someone just call you. It should answer in speaker mode. (Having someone call YOU is important because I called someone and this did not work.)
When you answer the phone and its on speaker mode hit the home button and go to podcasts or Spotify or anything that play sounds(I used podcast) then while the phone is still on the call in speaker mode play something and you should hear it on the speaker simutaniously as the phone call. then while its playing the audio hang up on the phone call.
This was the only thing that worked. I was so excited that I actually signed up for an account after 10 years with an iPhone just to post this.
Hope this helps.
OMG, you are a life saver!! I left my phone in my back pocket and forgot about it and it fell in the toilet this morning. I tried the can of air, the blow dryer, plugging in and unplugging my headphones a million times, turning it off, and was about to do a reset but nothing worked. I was really nervous about sticking anything in there like a lot of articles suggested, but your saying it could take a little abuse and explaining about the balls gave me the confidence and I had it fixed in seconds!! I was thinking that because of water damage sticking something in there wouldn't work, but the ball thing made sense and that is what it was! THANK YOU SO MUCH! 🙂
I just discovered that phone will get stuck in the headphones mode when the Voice Command (Microphone for keyboard) is disabled. Just enable the voice control back and wow - the speaker phone will be back on.
Okay i had the exact same problem with water damage but all you need to do is go to settings and click vioceover in the top and enable it this will instantky trick your phone somehow and creat sound mine happened only today and i had tried everything pls leave a like it worked
I took a bit of toilet paper and rolled it into a tube. I inserted the tube into the headphone jack with the help of an unbent paper clip and left it in the jack for about five minutes. When I removed it, the problem was fixed. Hooray!
Ok so I dropped mine in snow ( I know snow, it was in my pocket and I was chasing me my dog) and the headphone jack said it was continuously in headphone mode I tried to clean it, but it wasn't working so the sucking helped my case, but if you haven't been in any wet areas then it probably won't help like cleaning it would!
I had the same trouble today! I tried the Q-Tip several times - but it didnt work. I was already ready to suck my headphone jack, but I tried for the last time the Q-Tip ... thank God, it worked! Haha.
I'd some how got water in and it was saying headphone on the iPad Pro tried the paper clip , cotton bud ( que tip) and it did not work . So I then read the comment on sucking , so I took it to extreme .
Take the que tip ( the hollow one ) take all the cotton off one end and most off the other . Insert the one with a bit in the hole . Then get a vacuum and while holding the que tip between finger and thumb place the vacuum pipe over . This will suck the water out . As your doing it press the volume button and you'll see it start working before your eyes ;) ( hopefully ) . Good luck .
If you've run out Q - tips or don't have any pens, try using a toothpick or chopsticks ( anything with a long, strong, pointed tip. NOT a led pencil ). Wiggle it around the headphone jack's sides and repeatedly check to see if it worked with the volume buttons.
I found a solution that solved my problem.
Let your iPhone battery drain all the way, let your phone die, but make sure you're playing music through headphones when it dies. Then don't unplug the headphones, then charge your phone while the headphones are still plugged in. Then when your iPhone turns on, with headphones still plugged, unlock it and play any audio, then you can unplug them and continue playing the audio through the speakers.
This one worked for me cause I realized that before I had this problem, I was playing music in my car and my phone died, then I got home plugged it in and it was stuck in headphones mode, the iPhone just thought that it was still plugged to the car. Resetting it multiple times, and turning it off didn't help at all.
I found that a hard reset, press and hold on/off and home until Apple logo appears, worked for me. A real pain though. Also does it in my car with the lightening Port connected to car USB. A real pain.
This happened to me I got a bit of rain in mine. I tried all the suggestions on here and none seemed to work. So I then reverted back to the leaving my phone in a sealed bag of rice for an hour or so and my sound was working again. Worth a try if nothing else is working.
PRO TIP PEOPLE IF YOU DONT WANT TO SUCK ON YOU IPHONE TO GET THE WATER OUT USE A VACCUM, it worked for me you just have to be patient though it may take a while but eventually it sucked the water out!!!!
The paper clip works like magic. I got my iPhone 6s in a bucket filled with water. Later on I tried playing music only to find out it was fixed on headphones mode. Tried using paper and tissue to clean it didn't work. But wen I got paper clip and inserted it, I noticed my display changed to music mode and the speakers started working. 💪
You're amazing! My infant just grabbed my spoon and flung milk from my cereal directly into the port from across the table. Such a freak accident! Paper towel wasn't doing anything but your trick worked! Pliers to pinch the paperclip together and heard the click. Worked instantly. One tip for other users who find this: if you pinch it together too much, there won't be enough tension to dislodge the ball. Needs to be just small enough to fit into the port and twist.
I managed to do this without the paperclip, thankyou!!!!
Also I recomend an app called sonic frequency to get water out of the speakers, you click the water droplet button and it vibrates the speakers at the perfect freq to get water out, you can even feel it coming out!!
