iphone thinks headphones are plugged in even when not - how to fix
iPhone 4, Windows XP
I've been trying to get this issue fixed on my iPhone 6 almost all day. I never use headphones and my phone has never had any water or physical damage. I tried SO MANY things and what finally worked for me was this.. HOLD DOWN THE VOLUME UP AND DOWN BUTTONS AT THE SAME TIME, WHILE STILL HOLDING THESE DO A HARD RESET. SO ALL THE STEPS YOU WILL DO AT THE SAME TIME ARE HOLD DOWN THE VOLUME UP AND DOWN BUTTONS WHILE HOLDING DOWN THE HOME BUTTON AS WELL AS THE BUTTON ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF YOUR PHONE. ONCE YOU SEE THE WHITE SCREEN WITH THE APPLE YOU CAN LET GO OF ALL BUTTONS. THIS SHOULD FIX THE ISSUE! I really hope this saves someone a lot of the hassle I've been through!!
Awesome, thanks, this worked right away. I used a thick needle and just "scraped" the sides of the jack. It only took me twice to go around the circumference and it went back to "ringer".
Yes Paper Clip guy win. Worked as soon as I did it.
Thank you, "Paper Clip Guy." Tried the other ones, didn't work for me. I used a hairpin and it worked like a charm!
Sucking worked for me straight away. Thank you!
This happened to my ipad mini all I did was update to ios 7.0.4 and it solved my problem so it may also be a bug .
The sucking method worked for me, Thank you!
i tried everything else on here. and the dry qtip worked best for me.
I tried resetting the iphone, I tried inserting the earphone jack several times, nothining was working. But this did the trick instantly.
i had the same problem. took a toothpick and dug out some lint. thanks for the help.
I was franticly trying to find something that would work. I tried everything till I found this. It really worked, thanks so much!!
Qtip works. Was a bit rough and abusive, but I was reaching the end of my tether. Was in no mood to spend hundreds of dollars. Thanks Apple Community. You are the best.
Tissue nudged gently into headphone port with paper clip worked for me! Thank you!!
The qtip worked for me saved me a trip to genius
I just used a cig filter and it dried it up and started working again thanks guys
Tried the lighter, q tip, headphones in and out, and ..... Paper clip to the rescue! Had to do it a few times and then it worked.
