Mountain lion kills my battery

I have a mid-2009 MacBook pro. When running Lion, my battery life was around six hours. After installing mountain lion, my battery life is about an hour and fifteen minutes.

What version of Mountain Lion are you guys using? You may need to do a Software Update. as 10.8.2 has been known to restore battery life.

If you are on 10.8.2 then you may want to look at Activity Monitor as you may have something running in the background that is tying up your resources. Failing that you may want to re-install Mountain Lion, if you are still having battery life issues after that then it may be the battery.

I have the latest mountain lion. The issue I'm experiencing is not on how the battery lasts, but on the fact that it's draining too rapidly during sleep and beacuse it loses it's capacity!!!! I'm talking about mAh and not about minutes (the two things are related, but when a battery loses capacity it's not reversable: it's sort of having active elements short circuited and this is a physical damange. At Apple Store they make you buy a new battery without even trying to reset the SMC.
I'm trying to understand if it has something to do with ML or not, and I'm afraid it has.

I've recently upgraded to 10.8.2 on my Macbook Pro 17" ... the battery is now running down in half an hour (Creative Suite so pretty intensive use) and it's telling me I need to service battery. I've never had battery issues before. As machine is a couple of years old now I assumed battery was on it's way out, but clearly from this thread it's something to do with Mountain Lion?
