I dont sound ignorant, but I noticed my virex software doesn't allow me to grab the updates. It worked for the past 3 years and now it doesnt.. I take it the license has expired?.. but I dont remembering even buying a 3 year license.. I got this when I purchased my computer, but I never received anyword that it would expire.. but my next question is.. how vital is it to re-new or buy an new anti-virus program. Ive never had issues with viruses and MACs, but I know theres has been a couple of MAC created viruses.. All info and thoughts on this matter would be greatly appreciated..
Which version? I am using 7.6 with no problems - it works fine. It does its automated weekly update and scans like clock work (oh - well I guess it is clock work). Have you checked the Virex web site for updates and information?
It is possible that they may have dropped support for older obsolete anti-virus search engines, i.e. such as 7.2.
This thread has two ways to get the updates. Look at the bottom posting by teorema67 from the 12th of March. I think the default, if you got Virex from .Mac, is to look at Apple's servers for the virus defs. But they're apparently no longer being updated. Either one of those methods should work for you.
