Headphone Plugin Plays Buffered Sounds

I'm having a strange issue with my Retina MacBook Pro (aside from the well known heat and power issues). Whenever I plug in a pair of headphones the machine will play, in sequence, all of the noises that have occured since it was last shutdown/put to sleep. For example, If I've gotten a bunch of emails in Mail and sometime later I plug in a pair of headphones, all of the "new message" sounds will play one after another. It seems to occur for all system related sounds, whether they already played through the speakers originally, or if the machine was muted.

Is anyone else having this issue?

It's much much easier. Here are the basic steps you'll want to follow:

1. Backup everything on your computer. I recommend using Time Machine (usually with an external drive). Let it complete at least one backup before you do anything.

2. Boot to the recovery partition (hold down Cmd + R on bootup).

3. Erase the primary drive using the Disk Utility.

4. Reboot the computer into internet recovery mode (this should happen if you try to reboot normally after deleting the OS).

Internet Recovery Mode will download an OS image from the internet and install it automatically. You will need an internet connection to be active during this, and it's a pretty big download so a faster connection would be better.

5. Once the installation is complete, you can either use the recovery partition or the Migration Assistant to restore from your Time Machine backup.

These are just the basic steps. For more specifics, you can find instructions online, or ask me.
