I'm working in Mountain Lion on a Pages 09' document and I cannot save the file as a word document. I have tried export and all I get is "unknown error". The document is sved in iCloud. Could that have something to do with the problem?

I don't know how you have come to that conclusion.
I have just created a document with text bullet lists and it has exported fine.
I think that can be put down to a wild guess.
Usually the problem is to do with the name containing an illegal character for Windows, but how can we tell, you have given no details, not even what actually happens when the Word export fails.
