problem with mail signatures

I can't get my signature to come up on my emails all of the sudden. Anyone know what the problem could be? This happenned when I changed my email server and created a new mail account to go with it. I assigned the signature to the new account but when I write a new email I can't get the signature to come up.

Oh. I fixed mine.

Basically, when I changed my mail account from POP to IMAP (some years ago) I didn't delete the POP settings, so that if I wanted to go back to doing it that way it would be easy to switch.

Somehow on 6th Feb, my old POP account got reactivated (probably human error, but I can think of nothing I did that would have caused this to happen) and as I had called the new IMAP account by the same name as the old POP one, I didn't notice that I was using the old account - hence no signatures associated with it. So all the time I spent trying to get my signature to turn up on my IMAP account was pointless.

I still don't understand how it happened, but I imagine it was something to do with iCloud trying to sync every part of my life. Anyway, it probably won't help the rest of you, but for me it's case closed.

Good luck.

Hi there.. I have a new imac, and set up my mail by bringing over my old MAIL folder from old imac..

all is fine, except now, my default signature for each email account is NOT SHOWING UP when I open a new email.. It just says NONE.. I hvae to choose it..

What happenend and how can I fix it? I tried deleting SignaturesByAccount.plist, but that actually didn't seem to affect anything at all.. I don't even see where the mail program recreated a new one!

Any ideas one how to redo signature pref's without erasing all of my 38 signatures?

Thanks anyone!

Did you remember to reset or assign the account signature preferences in Mail/Preferences/Signatures...

Check that your old signatures are there and if not simply re create them ...THEN...highlight the account you want to have a signature with in the left hand column....then choose the signature to assign from the the centre column .....THEN go down the bottom of the panel where it says ....Choose Signature .....from the accounts or list of signatures (if you have multiples)....and BINGO, that signature you have assigned will always come up when you create a new email for that specified mail account...YOU ALSO have the option to have the signature placed above quoted text when replying etc. by ticking the box

This is of course if that is your particular problem. Mountain Lion wiped all my preference for signature assignments also.

You know..Apple is making too much money out of phones to be bothered with sorting software these days...iCal and Address book are a joke...but thats another story

hi people

i managed to assign multiple signatures on my multiple accounts

well!! what you have to do is as follows

mail>>>>preferences>>>>"all signatures"

IF "all signatures" doest work try doing each account manually as follows

select account 1 assign signature by clicking + button

select account 2 assign signature by clicking + button

DONE 🙂

If you can see your signatures when you bring them up under Preferences, have you tried to click the signature name (i.e. signature #1 or the name you used when you created it) and, while holding the mouse button depressed, draging the signature to the email origin to which you want that signature associated? I did that and it worked like I really knew what I was doing!

For what it is worth- My issue was the signature not appearing in the signature selection with a new mail even though I had created several signatures.

I would click Signatures: NONE and "edit"; edit this opened the preferences. In the left column are my email accounts. If you have more then 2 accounts, slide the window down to reveal the rest. I have a few that are confusingly similar. I had inadvertently added the signatures to appear for the other acounts and missed the one at the bottom.

I hope this helps any who have the same issue. My signatures never dissapeared from setup area. I just had not added signatures to the account to select.

ha, I had exactly the same problem.

A message window would NOT show ANy sigs in the sig menu. Although it showed up in the prefs window, under the email account it was supposed to. I made several sigs, no dice. One thing I tried was I added sigs to all my other accounts, temporarily, to see if that made a diff; I don't think so.

I had these two accounts, disabled, on top of the half dozen i already have. One of them was an imap account and the email or something must have been the same as the account I wanted to have a sigure on. Deleted that, and studdenly signatures worked the way they should have all along.

so go see if you have disabled accounts that might be conflicting.

grrr.

I have exactly the same problem and have read through all of the other posts, carried out the step-by-step procedure, but the signature does not show up in the 'choose signature' box. Hasn't anyone come up with a fix for this? I guess Apple doesn't look at these blogs to correct problems. They only hope that the customers will figure it out for themselves.
