Printer Driver for RICOH Aficio - only PostScript?

Found the office RICOH Aficio MP C4500 printer on the office network via IP# and the driver (v. 1.3) was installed automatically on my MB! Success!

BUT when printing to the printer from my MB all I get is a postscript dump, eg. text + blank pages. Searching the forums I get the idea that the driver is only for Post Script. And I guess (but don't know for sure) that the printer is lacking the postscript module/feature ...

From http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3669?viewlocale=en_US I see that the RICOH Aficio MP C4500 is supported by OS X Mountain Lion (and as I mentioned, it did install without any problems). But I can't see that it should be only PostScript?

From http://support.ricoh.com/bb/html/dr_ut_e/re/model/mp35/mp35en.htm I can only find driver (v. 1.0) for OS X 10.7, not any for OS X 10.8 – haven't tried it – and still I can't see that it should be only for post script enabled printers ...

My office windows pc is printing fine to the RICOH Aficio. The driver on here is a RPCS Printer Driver (v. 8.60). The office tech-support will only take care of pc setup - thus I'm on my own when it comes to setting up the printer from my MB!

Do I need a RPCS driver for OS X Mountain Lion? And what does RPCS mean?

Any help is most appriciated!

You are correct that disabling sandboxing is not a good idea. I have posted a temporary "patch" that keeps sandboxing intact. See my post at Ricoh MP C2500 not printing after upgrading to Yosemite

Sandboxing is preventing the various components from finding each other. My "patch" amends the PPD files for the printers and provides direct paths to the various bits and parts. Unfortunately, it doesn't solve the problem for those using the m2300w driver. As I look at that, the m2300w appears to be broken in Mavericks also.

Thanks a lot, this worked like a charm with a Ricoh Aficio MP C6000!

To make it easier to find, here are the steps I followed:

  1. From here http://www.linuxfoundation.org/collaborate/workgroups/openprinting/macosx/pxlmon o I downloaded:
    1. Ghostscript for Mac OS X 10.3.x (Panther) - Mac OS X 10.8.x (Mountain Lion)
    2. Foomatic-RIP for Mac OS X 10.3.x (Panther) - Mac OS X 10.8.x (Mountain Lion)
    3. pxlmono 1.9 for Mac OS X 10.3.x (Panther) - Mac OS X 10.8.x (Mountain Lion)
  2. Installed each one on that order (ghostscript complains about foomatic-rip not being installed yet but it's ok)
  3. Added my printer by IP on the Preferences panel as usual
  4. At the bottom of the panel when adding the printer I chose the PXL driver instead of the PS one which is selected by default
  5. Applied the sandbox patch by Matt Broughton from here http://tinyurl.com/oepe5go(source: Ricoh MP C2500 not printing after upgrading to Yosemite)

After this printing worked just like it did on Mavericks.

Just used the same steps as bergonzzi used for Yosemite 10.10.2 to setup a networked Ricoh Aficio C2800 printer located by IP address. The sandbox patch is the key to making this work. Also, I did install the latest Ricoh driver for OS X 10 which is on their web site.

Recommend following the steps as outlined in bergonzzi's reply.
